Culture at Amazon Australia & New Zealand

8.9
8.9 rating for Culture, based on 9 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
The decom team is a very supportive and easy going environment. We have laughs and talk about anything however when work needs to be done, we collectively lock in and get the work done. We have trainee's managers, team leads, trainers and senior techs that are all supportive and don't act bigger than one another.

The company culture is really good, with a generally younger demographic in the brand specialist team. The organisational structure at Amazon is quite flat, so I feel very comfortable talking to my manager who is the Head of Amazon Vendor Services. Everyone is really willing to meet in 1-on-1's and give advice based on their experience. The unique thing about working at Amazon is that people specialise in specific knowledge, so there is an emphasis of having a proactive approach in reaching out for help. Outside of work, there is a voluntary "Social" team who organise fun events such as pool parties, get-togethers and such. There are also 'affinity groups' which are similar to university societies/clubs where communities are formed to create fun events and campaigns. The most recent event I went to was in collaboration with Subtle Asian Traits, and it was a food party with Kahoot quizzes and such.

Due to hyrbid work, there tends to be a bit of "meet in passing" that occurs. Rarely do we get together for in person team building. There are people who come in regularly on certain days, and that builds a good office culture. Our team have gotten together when in person to do team lunches etc. and those are a highlight. A few times after hours we have also gone out as a team to meet in a more social setting. Amazon has many small teams, and so cooperation and teamwork is built into the hierarchy and culture, and people are amazingly helpful. Rarely has someone said "no, I can't help."
