Pay is actually great for graduates and those beginning their careers. There is no bonuses.

If starting out as a graduate, the pay is arguably better than industry (especially for the hours worked), and the pay increases are quite substantial. Once outside the graduate program however, pay increases above the baseline increase are dependent on your performance (so you are incentivised to perform). There used to be bonuses at APRA (where maximum would be about 15%), but due to Government direction to all public agencies, there are no more bonuses handed out anymore. But all things considered, I think the 'work hours/effort to pay ratio' is really good at APRA and much, much better compared to industry/private sector.

Bonuses will be removed after 2021. Pay reflects the level and expectation. Promotion and wage growth seems confusing unless sought after.

No bonuses Pay is market level

Pay is not the best when compared to industry. However, work life balance is unmatched and this probably justifies the lower salary.

Due to recent legislative changes, bonuses are not given on an annual basis. However, there are a range of other benefits. I have been able to travel for work, there has been catered food on special occasions, fruit in the office and no mandate on hybrid working requirements.

I think pay is pretty competitive for a graduate position
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Apr 2022
No bonuses into the future in line with government recommendation, but pay as a grad is very good, especially when considering the work, flexibility, responsibility, culture, rotations and hours. This may become slightly less relatively competitive after a few years however.

There are no bonuses. Pay bands for higher ups are large but starting pay low compared to top finance role (for some reason we don't want to strive to compare ourselves to Vanguard portfolio analysts rather we compare ourselves to grad accountants or public service).

Recent government mandate on bonuses likely to lead to a mass exodus when final bonus payment made. General remuneration package lower than similar private sector roles. Work/life balance and the quality of work do outweigh this though.
