Culture at Babcock Australia & New Zealand

8.4
8.4 rating for Culture, based on 38 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
I would say the company's culture is great. Most of the colleagues that I have come across have been friendly and engaging. When I am working down on site, the team is great and super interactive with each other. I really enjoy working down on site. However, when I have to work up at the head office, it is a massive shift in energy, however that's understandable, as it gets busy and full on when working on site. I do feel like there is a big divide between the different fields in the office. There aren't many opportunities given to interact with colleagues from different fields in this company. When we have lunch and learns or in a space where everyone comes together, most people are unconsciously divided and mingling amongst their groups, so there is rarely an opportunity for colleagues to get to know other colleagues working in a different area. Just a suggestion to find ways to bring people together and have the chance to socialise with people that they haven't talked to yet (could be new colleagues as well) :)

My team spends time outside of work socialising, everyone is exceptionally cooperative and friendly. No complaints

My team is very fun to work with, and there are opportunities outside of work to socialise. There are also social club events, barbeques and pub lunch events every month. The hierarchy of the team is apparent but not overtly in social settings, and everyone is treated with respect.

There is a really strong culture in Babcock. As a grad I was very intimidated with speaking with people in leadership roles, however everyone is so kind and assisting and it feels like you are an equal rather than in a hierarchy. There is also strong collaboration amongst each other as we work towards a common goal.

Everyone is just busy with their tasks. Lacks warmth and welcoming feeling for grads

Like most other companies, there is a hierarchy. However, from what I've seen every day since starting at Babcock, this has no bearing on the way people interact and treat each other. Employees, regardless of their position, treat everyone with respect. People get along well, and there is a Social Members Club that employees can join and partake in fun, out-of-office events once a month.

a lot of encouragement and appreciation as well as recognition of hard work. outside of work, Babcock plays a major role maintaining image of Australian defence industry

Good culture locally to engineering services. team breakfasts are common and after work drinks as well. People are respectful but friendly and easy to get along with.

Fantastic culture, it is an enjoyable atmosphere to work in. There is a set hierarchy, but it has never felt as if anyone thinks they are in charge of me. It's more like everyone has a purpose and are colleagues. Teamwork is big a Babcock often you will see multiple departments work together to achieve one goal.

There is a massive work from home culture meaning face-to-face interactions don't happen very frequently

Good office culture with a good environment. Flexible working hours allows for more freedom while working from home.

Very Inclusive work environment

ADF GSE has a good positive culture where everyone actually cares for the other members, we turn up to work in the office because we want to engage with the other team members. I can't speak for the rest of the business.

During work hours everyone is professional, always helpful. There is a hierarchy but no one follows it, everyone treats each other the same, which is amazing

Babcock's company culture in the office is polite, respectful, and professional. People I have met so far have been kind and happy to help with problems. Supply chain and procurement where I work is structured as a function and run by the head of supply chain for Australasia. There are three levels of management in the supply chain management function, and management are open to ideas from everyone at lower levels. I have found the team in New Zealand works collaboratively, and the people I have worked with are kind.

The company is developing a sense of culture, amongst my colleagues we're tight knit, but opportunities outside of internal circles to socialise are fairly limited.

The culture is really good in my opinion. I'm very close with my graduate cohort, we regularly catch up outside of hours for dinners and to catch up. As mentioned, the business has active social and golf clubs which I've also had plenty of involvement in. We have monthly town halls and being based at the central office; I see executives around the office regularly. Everyone is very willing to answer questions during work hours, particularly from a graduate who is keen to learn.

People are super friendly, easy going and care for your health as an individual which is amazing to see. The Melbourne office is very new and whilst numbers are low at times, we have a great culture for those that attend the site and we even have started a small social club which involves myself and work outings.
