Management at Babcock Australia & New Zealand

8.0
8.0 rating for Management, based on 38 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
Our managers are very busy themselves, however they do take the time to check in when needed. I do believe that I need to seek more feedback from my mentors regularly to keep myself in check and to make sure that I am doing what needs to be done, and always actively finding ways to improve.

They are excellent mentors and provide good feedback, but are often exceedingly busy, so it's hard to get a hold of them.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jul 2024
My managers are reasonable and fair. They are not always available to mentor as they have busy schedules, but there are many other engineers on the team willing to provide mentorship. Feedback and praise are strong suits of my mangers.
Graduate, Adelaide - 19 Jul 2024
Managers are really accessible and approachable and it is simple as contacting them for a chat. Mentoring is important and there are many managers who fulfil this role.

LM is too busy. Even one one-on-ones, always doing something else on the side. Not much a mentor either.

Managers are pretty accessible, although they can sometimes have a very packed schedule (depending on their role, current workload, etc.). I've set up regular fortnightly one-on-one meetings with my line manager to discuss my progress in the graduate program and to allow him to provide me with any feedback. Our team also has regular weekly meetings too.

managers are very accessible and are good mentors with meaningful advice based on their personal experiences.

Very accessible, I sit right next to my manager, my manger in particular has been a fantastic mentor however there are other mentors available as well. We have a monthly catchup to share feedback etc.

Graduate, Perth - 10 Jul 2024
My manager works from home and can be difficult to get a hold of. There are good managers though

Generally accessible and make good, experienced mentors. I have communicate almost daily with my line manager regarding my work, with weekly discussions on different aspects like career growth or general life. I also have a functional manager which I meet with once a month and if I change areas within Babcock will stay in contact with me to help grow my career .

They are good mentors, again as explained before i was put in a strange situation however taken it as a huge opportunity to develop and upskill my set of skills
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Jul 2024
My managers are very supportive and great to have as mentors however due to a large workload, I often have to be the one to reach out for help and support and sometimes feel as though I am adding more work to their already busy work day. However, they are great in communication and providing feedback when asked.

My manager makes himself accessible despite his heavy workload. For example, every few weeks, I have a catch up with him in the morning about how I am doing. He is a good mentor as he imparts advice and shares his career experiences. My functional manager, who is above my main manager, is less accessible. For example, I have had many meetings with him cancelled. Despite cancellations, our meetings have productive, and I have learned a lot from him. Both provide recognition and performance feedback, and are good communicators.

Graduate, Auckland - 25 Jun 2024
My manager is very good, but he's so busy that it's often difficult to get hold of him. He is good at giving his full attention when I get time with him though, which is a major positive.
Graduate, Adelaide - 24 Jun 2024
My manager is always supportive, easy to approach and provides me with a lot of guidance which has truly made the start here that much better. Similarly other leaders follow this same mantra and are easily conversative and approachable
