In procurement and supply chain, there is a focus on sustainability, and sourcing from suppliers who are compliant with the law and engage in environmentally sustainable practices. Electric forklifts are also used.

Group' initiatives from Babcock are lofty but environmentally sound. Babcock NZ faces many challenges in addressing our environmental and sustainability goals, an issue I have found in my role is initiatives that are recognised to improve our environmental performance don't have a clear path to move forward or you're required to jump over major hurdles to have them completed. There needs to be a method of refining this process in order for Babcock to achieve their intended goals.

There is not too much that can be done in terms of the environmental footprint of the defence assets themselves due to their extreme operational requirements, but there is a push to become net neutral with the associated dockyards, office space etc.

I haven't seen many green initiatives in general. There is a sustainability program rolling out to do with the ships.
