Training & Personal Development at Babcock Australia & New Zealand

7.9
7.9 rating for Training, based on 38 reviews
Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
For a project management grad, we got given LinkedIn learning courses to complete. Aside from LinkedIn learning, there isn't a lot of other training options available. Although the LinkedIn courses are very in depth and informative, most of the information does not get retained as I would like it to. However, I would like there to be more face-to-face trainings that we can do. I would also prefer a face to face excel training course, then a LinkedIn learning course. For someone that isn't too familiar with excel, a training course would be incredibly beneficial. For our grad program, we have development modules which we have to complete every 2-3 months. I personally enjoy these modules and would prefer to have more of these as I have picked up alot of self development skills from there!

It's fine. Some of the units feel pointless, but there's enough content relating to systems engineering that I can deal with some overly corporate lectures.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jul 2024
There are a lot of training modules specifically for graduates. Some of them are great, some of them are not that useful for myself. However, the amount of training is excellent and a real positive of having the earlycareers team guiding graduate cohort.
Graduate, Adelaide - 19 Jul 2024
There is so much training for graduates here. I really like that Babcock have invested into getting great facilitators to help develop us graduates on the soft skills. Those are things that will sit with you for life! I've learnt to focus on self-awareness and how to seek and use feedback.
Graduate, Adelaide - 19 Jul 2024
Formal training is very good, structured, and plenty of resources. On the job training is where it is lacking.
Graduate, Adelaide - 16 Jul 2024
Babcock has a 2-year Graduate Program for engineers fresh out of university. This includes formal development modules that cover both soft skill and engineering topics, all provided by subject matter experts. Some modules I've participated in so far have focused on feedback, self-awareness, systems engineering, asset and lifecycle management, and personal brands.
Graduate, Adelaide - 15 Jul 2024

Many courses, I have listed some below however there are many more: SAP FMMS Maintenance management RCM Asset Management
Graduate, Auckland - 12 Jul 2024
On the job training is fantastic. Formal training is way to frequent, mandatory and irrelevant. It often gets in the way of my work, which is here I learn the most.
Graduate, Perth - 10 Jul 2024
many opportunities for this
Graduate, Auckland - 10 Jul 2024
Graduates are provided with online and in-person learning modules however most of my learning is on the job by completing new tasks.
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Jul 2024
So far Formal work trainings are great! Managed to get very Technical MID training done with certificate and a Confined Space Training Certificate too. On the Job trainings are excellent because you're constantly learning each day on the go on site.
Graduate, Auckland - 09 Jul 2024
The EEA incorporation has been great at expanding the fundamentals taught within University, along with the encouragement within Babcock programs to learn through linked in learning or ADELE. So far the DBL course has been very rudimentary and I have found very little benefit in doing it.
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Jul 2024
I think I have been put in a challenging situation, Started off with my line manager, He was amazing, taught me a lot of the skills I use today, unfortunately he resigned leaving a gap in my team, the PEM took me as a graduate however after a month has gone on Annual leave, leaving me a bit lost sometimes. My GFM is really nice however due to not being with me on a daily basis it makes it challenging to explain how I can develop skills. I have taken this opportunity, to do some research and the LinkedIn learning and applying different frameworks to manage and follow all the current active projects until my PEM who is currently my line manager returns. The up side of being put in a situation like this has made me go seek out evidence and tasks, solidifying the team dynamic

As part of the graduate program we are given training modules for personal development every few months however as an environmental graduate I feel there could be more training specific to our jobs as other graduate roles (e.g. project managers) receive more specific training relevant to their role.
Graduate, Adelaide - 03 Jul 2024
Each new graduate goes through comprehensive training on the business upon starting. Through this initial training, I learned many important aspects of the business-like trade controls and safety. In addition, there is a mentorship program where I am working. I have learned mostly on the job, and through my co-workers in addition to formal learning.
Graduate, Auckland - 25 Jun 2024
Babcock offers great opportunities for informal and formal training. I've picked up many skills during my time at Babcock, including auditing preparation, developing an understanding of consent processes and data collection and monitoring, Formal training in the graduate program has focussed on leadership skill development, the sessions are well spaced out in the year and insightful. In my field, we're also offered external training opportunities - e.g. Auditor training.
Graduate, Auckland - 25 Jun 2024
Most of the training we do are formal modules (but some people also use LinkedIn Learning). Some of these are better than others but in general, I've found the in-house modules to be well designed and useful while the external modules tent to be cumbersome and not fully relevant.
Graduate, Adelaide - 24 Jun 2024
The company has graduates enrolled in various Engineers Australia module training alongside a series of capability presentations and engagement sessions to help us develop individually
Graduate, Melbourne - 24 Jun 2024
