What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
The pay is fair and adequate starting salary for a graduate. I don't think any bonuses are available. The super annulation through CSC also appears to be fair.
Graduate, Melbourne - 31 Aug 2024
Most of the researcher jobs in this company require, at minimum, 7 years of university training. As such, the pay matches this level of effort. I have heard that the pay is better in the private sector, especially after COVID
Graduate, Melbourne - 30 Aug 2024
There seems to be quite good conditions for CSIRO workers including pay. I haven't had much experience with bonuses.
Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Newcastle - 29 Aug 2024
Pay is below the industry standard. I took a significant pay cut to come to CSIRO because of what I was promised, which did not eventuate.
Graduate, Darwin - 28 Aug 2024
as a graduate employer the pay is great and I receive 78K per year, If I hadn't taken on debt to receive education at their behest as mentioned I would give full marks. but the debt will consume half of my take home pay effectively dropping my take home pay to less then that of a full time minimum wage worker, where I hold a degree, work under atypically dangerous conditions and am expected to work beyond my hours in completion of the aforementioned education.
Graduate, Melbourne - 28 Aug 2024
I am very satisfied with the renumeration provided within this role.
Graduate, Melbourne - 28 Aug 2024
The pay at my company is lower than both State and other Federal pay scales. Bonuses are dependent on team budget meaning that some teams have the budget to allocate bonuses and some do not.
Graduate, Brisbane - 19 Aug 2024
Bonuses are very rare in government jobs. Pay is good considering the flexible working arrangement and very reasonable hours.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Jul 2024
base salary is competitive, but relatively few avenues for direct bonuses
Graduate, Melbourne - 17 Jul 2024
Pay is disparate between graduates based on the teams they entered (e.g. higher budget teams paid their grads more). My pay at CSIRO is equivalent to my salary at the job I had prior to completing my qualifications.
Graduate, Brisbane - 11 Jul 2024
I am extremely satisfied with my pay as a graduate. There is also a good amount of superannuation allocation.
Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Townsville - 10 Jul 2024
I think overall the pay is lower than elsewhere because we are federally funded. Pay increases are linked with the APA cycle and your performance. I haven't heard of any bonuses being handed out.
Graduate, Melbourne - 10 Jul 2024
They are on par with others in the public sector for someone of my experience. There are good opportunities to increase pay periodically by performing at a good standard.
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Jul 2024
The pay is good for a graduate role, but not as good as some other government departments. I do not believe that bonuses are available.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Jul 2024
no thoughts as of yet. I have only been here less than 6 months.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Jul 2024
good
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Jul 2024
The pay is reasonable considering it is an internship and the amount of assistance you receive.
Intern, Canberra - 23 Dec 2021
Its more about the experience as the vacation program only runs for 10 weeks.
Intern, Brisbane - 20 Dec 2021
N/A. Standard for an internship
Intern, Melbourne - 20 Dec 2021
I am very happy with the amount I am being paid.
Intern, Melbourne - 20 Dec 2021
What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.
Perks are limited at CSIRO. Some perks include: -Free food and drink at events, conferences, workshops etc -Travel and accommodation is paid for when needing to travel interstate for work related activities -Generous leave entitlements
Graduate, Melbourne - 31 Aug 2024
I have not looked into this
Graduate, Melbourne - 30 Aug 2024
Access to sophisticated machinery and applications; regular presentations on interesting science topics, gravitas associated with the organisation.
Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Newcastle - 29 Aug 2024
none
Graduate, Darwin - 28 Aug 2024
very generous leave, training opportunity's, work place groups, staff accommodation at Mt bulla under a ski society, workplace union, working with other scientists with decades of experience.
Graduate, Melbourne - 28 Aug 2024
The best perks as part of my role involve the flexibility of the role, opportunities to win free experiences and subsidised offers as well.
Graduate, Melbourne - 28 Aug 2024
Generous leave policy and flexibility to work from home (team dependent).
Graduate, Brisbane - 19 Aug 2024
Can take double leave at half pay (8 weeks leave!) Don't need to use personal leave over the Christmas period (there is misc. leave for that time period) Option to join the Union and have access to Supermarket and petrol discounts, insurance etc... Fitness passport - great cheap gym membership where the employer pays part of the fee. You can also have included sauna, pool and other amenities.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Jul 2024
miscellaneous leave allowances is useful and welcomed
Graduate, Melbourne - 17 Jul 2024
Generous leave policy and very flexible and understanding of life commitments.
Graduate, Brisbane - 11 Jul 2024
Best perks include fitness passport and free events at sites (e.g. morning teas).
Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Townsville - 10 Jul 2024
We don't have that many perks, there is childcare on some sites, and we can sign up to a fitness pass. We get the legislated amount of leave so 4 weeks. But this can be taken at half pay and stretched to 8 weeks. There is also a close down period over Christmas and we don't have to take leave for but still get paid. There are more benefits if you sign up for the union I think.
Graduate, Melbourne - 10 Jul 2024
Has a good gym / health and fitness pass that you and your family can access in most states where you can go to most gyms / public health places, pools etc for a flat monthly fee
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Jul 2024
My team uses Flexitime, which is amazing to help with work-life balance.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Jul 2024
CSIRO as a government business, has a number of perks, including reasonable working hours, free parking and access to CSIRO facilities (relevant to my work).
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Jul 2024

Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Townsville - 08 Jul 2024
yes is ok.
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Jul 2024
We got rewarded for our efforts with systems testing with an industry partner. It was totally unexpected and we felt we were just doing what was required of us!
Intern, Brisbane - 08 Jan 2022
No unusual perks that I know of
