Working Hours at CSIRO

8.9
8.9 rating for Working Hours, based on 60 reviews
How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
The company offers flexitime which is great and flexible hours if you need to attend a personal appointment such as the dentist or doctor you are allowed to. The work hours offer a good work life balance and adequate break time for lunch.

My role, being lab-based, means that I work in the office unless I have a good reason not too. Everyone in my team and program also have this limitation. I feel this promotes camaraderie and builds connections between staff. If I have a good reason to work from home, even regularly (once a week), as long as I can convince my manager, I can.

I'd be more satisfied if I enjoyed spending more time at the office. There are several issues; cleaning isn't done regularly, many broken drawers/cupboards in common areas, no (living) indoor plants.

I allocate time as needed to complete my CSIRO project and attend meetings. CSIRO is very flexible in terms of time allocation and workspace. I have the opportunity to work from home if needed and never feel pressured to work long or unusual hours.

there is great flexibility, but to complete everything I need to do I am work far in excess of my contracted hours.

Very flexible - generally I spend 2-3 days per week in the office, but will always work diligently from home as required.

I would like to spend more time actually in the office with colleagues. However, the hours expected during the work week are very reasonable. The company is very flexible in terms of hours and accommodating external responsibilities.

My work is incredibly flexible with work hours and has flexitime available. There is a genuine understanding of work/life balance.

The company is extremely flexible with hours. The company understands that life happens and we can have appointments and other things that come up. As long as we meet our hours each week, reach our work commitments and get approval from our supervisor then it is ok to have flexible work hours.

Working hours are really flexible. You can start early finish early or start late finish late. Lots of people will take time off during the day for appointments or school runs and make the time up later.

Very. Generally, my work hours are 9-5, however, I often like to come in a half an hour earlier and leave a bit earlier in the afternoon and this is totally fine with my manager / the company. I also have the flexibility to work from home when I want or need to so generally work from home 2 days a week which is common for most people working here.
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Jul 2024
I have complete flexibility with working in the office or from home. I also have flexibility in the hours I work, as long as most of the time it is within the 9-5 range.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Jul 2024
due to my role as a laboratory technician, I spend around 1/4 of my time in the chemical laboratory. Due to the hazards involved in working in the laboratory, there are several requirements around work hours. Namely that no one work in the laboratory by themselves, and secondly that we come in 5 days a week (as the laboratory is here at work), unless we have a good reason why. In saying that, if I do have a good reason to work from home (electrician, doctor's appointment, etc.) my line manager has been very accommodating.

Graduate, Other (Please specify) - Townsville - 08 Jul 2024
yes flexible hours as long as there is communication
Graduate, Brisbane - 08 Jul 2024
Very flexible, which is something I like. A good work/life balance. As long as we turn up and do the required hours every week, there isn't a problem. No fixed lunch breaks either, which suits me, as sometimes I don't feel like a very long lunch break, and sometimes I feel like a longer one...!

Company is very flexible due to little oversight and focusing on completing the work rather than attending office for a certain amount of hours
