Culture at Deloitte Australia

8.1
8.1 rating for Culture, based on 33 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
The culture is great in the office and after hours, I have been able to connect with almost everyone in my team, as everyone is very open and hierarchy is not felt. Teamwork is an essential part for any team and I have found that the team I am in, has a lot of cooperation and teamwork within it.

There is minimal culture. The phrase "you are just a grad" is thrown around frequently which demonstrates a clear negative opinion towards graduates within my organisation. The office (in the area my team sits) during working hours is usually silent , and if you speak to a colleague about anything other than work it is frowned upon. This is not seen in other areas of the office where different teams work. After hours there is occasionally drinks, however these are normally scheduled by the grads for other grads as the higher ups normally do not participate. There is always also concern due to how others perceive you that you still do not speak candidly at any point as there is a gossip culture so you have to be very careful about who you trust. There is also quite a "cliquey" culture in the office whereby it is very hard to infiltrate social circles. Different teams usually stick to themselves and do not like having people from other teams join them for lunch, and grads from previous years (who are now analysts and senior analysts etc.) remain in their own social circles.

The culture among colleagues is very friendly and relaxed, there are many opportunities to socialize in office, the partners are also very friendly to talk to. However, it can sometimes be intimidating to approach people before you've been introduced to them.

The culture is warm and welcoming. You are part of the team as soon as you walk through the door. There are plenty of opportunities both in and outside of office to catch up with colleagues.

Low morale due to lack of support felt. Can definitely feel around the firm and can sometimes make newcomers feel a lack of motivation.

People can be very supportive and helpful. Coaching is great. For outside hours with enabling areas, there is less socialising than consulting areas due to the culture.

The office is amazing and there are lot's of bonding activities after work (i.e., drinks and grads going out together). There is a lot of support for me as a grad by my team and even the more senior members of my team are always happy to answer questions (this is because the hierarchy is quite flat).

Have Deloitte flex so can work from home. Not always see colleagues in the office. But nice to have flexibility. Work hours long during busy season.

In the office, people often converse with those in their department. If you've made friends through starting at the same time or even chatting on the same floor, you'll see that as well. You know who's higher on the corporate structure but besides a busy schedule, their status is seldom a reason for them not to engage (basically, no restrictions based on where you are on the corporate ladder). Outside of the office, there are plenty of opportunities to engage out of the office with different groups and clusters of people. Whether you already know them or are nearby when the offer is given, I have yet to hear someone be told they can't tag along. Everyone has their own clusters, both inside the office and beyond, but they are not often exclusive.

In my team, we all help each other out and assist wherever someone is struggling. Love my team culture in terms of the support and friendliness they provide me. They also will put time aside to help me in areas I require more support or learning.

Everyone is amazing and very welcoming. We are all hardworking and strive to uplift each other. While there are times when the workload can be overwhelming, everyone is willing to help; you just need to ask.

My team works very well together and everyone helps each other out. We have one day a week where everyone comes into the office so we can work together and socialise face to face.

In office hours, my team is split across two states, and the team in my state doesn't come into the office more than one day a week, making the culture limited. After hours culture is almost non-existent within my team, only farewell drinks. I made a few friends on my first day of Grad induction, if I hadn't met them on the first day I wouldn't have any friends outside of the colleagues in my direct team. The Hierarchy in my team is quite lateral, open discussion across layers is encouraged. My team members work in quite a siloed way, however I think this is something they are trying to change. Across my function, people are generally friendly. However, people usually stick to their teams.

my department is very relaxed and casual, teams work together well, company initiated events and events held away from working

Highly cooperative environment. Each project has a dedicated team which has a lot of contact time. However, each project will have a new set of team members limiting consistent contact time with the same people.

I love my company's culture both in the office and after hours. Everyone is super helpful and wanting to add to your learning experience and it is also nice to see that same attitude and friendliness out of work at social events.

The company culture is well promoted and a generally good, however the social aspect can sometimes appear to be forced and not as organic as one would like it to be.
Graduate, Sydney - 16 Jan 2023
The team includes consistently laid-back colleagues who is very supportive. There is minimal hierarchy, reducing the pressure for anyone from junior level to interact with senior level employees (including partners).
Midlevel, Sydney - 16 Jan 2023
very kind people with little politics, as far as the lowest level workers are concerned.
Graduate, Sydney - 16 Jan 2023
Great culture, supportive and entirely responsible.
