Office & Workplace at Department of the Treasury

Please comment on your company's office space, location and facilities. And while we're at it, please tell us a little about the dress code.
The Canberra office is mediocre. The location is good, but the facilities are basic and some (e.g. showers and changeroom) are outdated. Desks are assigned to each staff member in the Canberra office, which is good, and it seems to be able to accommodate interstate visitors as some people will work from home. The Melbourne office is in a great location and has recently been renovated to add twelve extra desks and modernise the space. There is a hot-desking system and capacity is often strained. It struggles to accommodate interstate visitors and will struggle further if more graduates commence in the Melbourne office in February 2025.

Dress code varies across different areas. It's pretty formal in my area.

nice since I'm by a sunny window with plants, but most other desk spaces pretty dire. dress code business casual, except for casual friday

My teams office space is good as its located on the 5th floor so its warm and gets good natural light but not all floors are equal. The dress code is very flexible and accommodating yet professional.

The office is on the top of Barangaroo Tower and has quite a good view and facilities are great. The dress code is smart-casual - so a collared shirt/ sweater

The space, location and facilities it has is great. Treasury goes above and beyond to accommodate to our needs, and it has everything available to also support a healthy, active and sport friendly lifestyle amongst staff. in terms of the dress code, amongst men it can be quite traditional but it also can be very accepting of dress codes that border smart casual (i.e chinos and a work shirt). Women are allowed to wear basically what they want, along as it is deemed work appropriate. The dress code is very open and accepting to all different styles

Could be better. For what is meant to be one of the preeminent economic agencies in this country propping up monitors on reams of paper is unacceptable.

Treasury's office is in a lovely spot surrounded by nature and a 5 minute walk from Lake Burley Griffin. The building however, is quite old and while there is sufficient space for each individual, there definitely could be more.

Very standard has not changed in a while as mentioned by other colleagues who have been at the Treasury for decades.

the dress code is smart casual bordering on business attire. the office spaces and facilities are good. the location does feel a little isolated from food options at times otherwise it is great for walks

The offices are fine, have everything you need, enough kitchen space and social areas, the work spaces are good. The end-of-trip facilities could be better, but they aren't awful. The location is really pretty, but it is a bit out of the CBD, so the food options are limited. The dress code is good, people can really wear what they want, no one is going to call them out, but most people wear some form of smart casual unless there is an important meeting.

The office space is located in the centre of Canberra right next to a bus stop and has good access to facilities in the building useful for Treasury staff (such as a carer’s room and bike storage). The dress code is kept at business casual (except casual Fridays everyone loves those) and everyone is pretty calm about it. I have never had a problem where I needed facilities that weren’t available

I love the place and space from the outside and all the tech functions inside (especially the standing desks and monitors); however, it does feel a bit outdated in the internal space.

Great location. Good facilities. Open plan offices, which I don't like but they seem unavoidable.

Excellent facilities. Only issue is parking costs.

Men's changerooms could be improved (additional ironing board). Dress code is good.

Semi-open plan, on floor access to managers, great kitchen facilities and quiet spaces.

Offices are fine however the location isn't the best as there is not much by way of restaurants and local shops in the area (being in the parliamentary triangle). Also, there are not enough meeting rooms and they are always booked out. Dress code: office-wear. Some divisions dress more formal it kind of depends where you sit, but general office-wear is expected. Some areas do casual Friday.

Location, space and facilities are all great - maybe not as many options food-wise compared to being in the city, but that's not anything terrible. Dress code is not super strict, just business/business casual on Fridays.

I think noting the age of the buildings it's quite good and has been modernised but it's still an old building and there's little facilities in the surrounding area. There is usually casual Fridays but the dress code is business wear.
