What projects/initiatives does your employer run and what have you worked on personally?
The firm is quite committed to CSR and has a responsible business (pro bono) team that graduates can settle into, when there's space. The firm takes its pro bono commitments seriously and does so at community level (birth certificate clinic and assisting lawright with helping victims of domestic violence claim compensation) and at global level through representing three island nations in the ICJ advisory proceedings on climate change.

The office I work in conducts a wide variety of CSR work for clients and I think that assists us in ensuring that CSR matters are prioritised within our own organisation on a daily basis.

CSR is a hugely important part of DLA Piper and we have a significant pro bono practice which in 2020 saw our global network devote over 200,000 hours to Pro Bono activities. Personally I have worked with our Iris Represents initiate which provides pro bono assistance LGBT+ NGOs, individuals and organisations, which has been incredibly satisfying work.

Significant pro bono commitment of which I have been involved in a few projects relating to the climate crisis and statelessness. Also about to start a project that will support the empowerment of First Nations-led truth-telling. The firm also recently launched eMission 2030 campaign.

The firm continues to commit itself to CSR. One of the principal initiatives being pursued by the firm at the moment is a goal to create zero emissions by 2030. This involves changes in business practices and policies.

I think the firm has a solid pro bono practice that is very international and covers a lot of interesting, pressing issues.
