I have an excellent development coach who has taken the time to guide and support me.

I have had great mentors at the firm and also terrible ones. Not every senior I deal with takes feedback well, but some are incredibly receptive to it. Some seniors only deal with me through lawyers above me and almost refuse to ever speak to me directly, which can feel hierarchical/impersonal. As a whole, the firm's leadership sometimes don't have their pulse on how juniors are feeling and what they want.

I think my team specifically has been very easy to communicate with, whether it is Senior associates or Partners. They have provided me with great training, mentoring and exposure. I am unable to comment if this is true for the other teams as I have limited interaction with them.

Partners are always accessibly and consistently provide feedback. We are provided with a supervising partner, a development coach and a buddy which shows DLA goes above and beyond. Due to the small intake of graduates per year, our development is a big focus, we are provided with exceptional guidance.

I am satisfied with my managers overall. They are relatively accessible if an issue needs to be addressed - I think you must always be cognisant of how busy your managers may be and expect a commensurate level of access/feedback.

So far, I have found my supervising partner and other senior members of the team to be very accessible and willing to teach and run through the context and background of matters I am working on. I have weekly meetings where we discuss priorities for the week and have a clear performance review program where we can seek feedback throughout our rotations.

The partners and senior lawyers at DLA Piper are approachable and open to helping their junior lawyers grow in their roles. Although many people are often busy and time poor, receiving feedback is a common part the review process. This makes it easier to see your work recognised and improve where improvement is needed.

Yes, I am satisfied with my manager, the only hindrance is how busy they are themselves.

Each person and partner is different. Most are friendly, can be mentors and give good feedback.

Yes, they are very experienced, good communicators and very supportive. However, due to how busy the teams are it can be difficult to find time to get feedback.
