I contacted DP to discuss job opportunities and subsequently met with Toby for an informal meeting as a "screening" for a formal interview which occurred the following week. I sat a formal interview at the DP office which consisted of a variety of set questions which were both relevant and suitably challenging. I was required to sit a pre-employment medical, which included fairly rigourous strength testing. Given the intensity of some field work (such as DCPs) I believe this is a good idea for job candidates.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
I can't remember

Why did I choose to study Environmental Science, what makes me a good fit for the role and why the role appealed to me. The answers were fairly generic aside from the question about why I studied Environmental Science which was actually a really good question as it brought me back to the reason I'm an environmental scientist in the first place.

Don't be afraid and don't feel intimidated that it's a male-dominated workplace. I've felt way more welcomed and included here than I have at other workplaces (even ones that are considered appropriate workplaces for females).

Don't stress over your technical skills and focus more on demonstrating your interpersonal skills and clearly outlining both your understanding of DP's work and your expectations to ensure they align closely with each other.
