SA promotion at minimum 5 years.

There is pretty clear career progression/hierarchy at law firms (e.g. grad > solicitor > senior associate > special counsel > partner). Your seniority is based on the number of years of experience you have.

The promotion opportunities are hierarchical, and therefore depends on number of years worked, amount of experience and the business value one can provide for the firm.

Juniors have opportunities to take up pro-bono work, client secondments and work overseas.

Law is a structured industry. It does sometimes feel like promotions are based on just “who’s been here longest”. And it tends to depend on where gaps open up in teams. Sometimes it does feel that lateral hires progress faster than those who have been loyal to the firm.

Opportunities only exist on a business needs basis so it really depends.

I have observed many opportunities for career progression at KWM. Those who demonstrate diligence, hard work and commitment are rewarded with many opportunities, which is motivating to see as a junior.

Pay is entirely equal and predetermined as a graduate. I feel there will be good opportunities if I want them in the future.

Relatively satisfied, it seems like there is potential to be promoted at a standard timeframe as long as your meet your target hours.

The graduate program is quite structured. There are no promotion possibilities at this stage. However, promotions are available once we have completed the program.
