Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
We have an online portal which has all the formal training available to you and assigned to your name. Most of them were engaging and able to give a good overview of the topic however some were not as informative. I think the best 'training' I got was just learning through the work I was given and observing other colleagues. I have been able to pick up a number of skills including continually improving my writing skills and being able to write clearly for anyone to understand, working on my presenting skills and being confident to speaking with colleagues both informally and in meeting settings. I think I have also

Huge effort is put into training where there are dedicated days for the learning component. Skills picked up include how to effectively manage complex scenarios at work.

Lots of opportunities that are mandatory, many more that are optional across the board for soft skills, hard skills, networking etc. I never felt like a lack of knowledge was a hard block to my progress, there was always a resource I could access

It is good, but sometimes you don't have trainings on some important stuffs, like the structure and the culture, and internal policies (like leaves, etc.).

There are workshops and training material for formal training. Colleagues and managers helped me with the on the job training. Both have been very effective in training me for the job that I am currently undertaking now.

A lot of informal on the job training, which was a lot of examples of previous work, support meetings on what the goal of a piece of work is, etc. Workshops get run every two or so weeks, they cover a wide range of topic and skill areas.

Training has been a combination of informal and formal. Additionally, the grad program also contains a 'diploma of government', run by the University of New England.

Many training and development programs. In the DPE in NSW government they have been great at providing us with development programs, plus there is a massive library of online courses which my manager has encouraged me to explore

There is not much help in learning and development, no structured learning or new skill development. Access to Linkedin learning is the only learning opportunity.

Formal onboarding training and access to other formal training (online). Microsoft skills through external training via Department wide booking. Ability to do some self paced learning while at work.

We had four weeks worth of training sessions to learn to use the relevant software, which was done in a small group and was very hands on and interactive. Other various trainings were hosted by different staff, so we were able to meet many staff early on. Other than onboarding, we frequently have access to professional development seminars for lawyers. giving us skills and knowledge in anything from statutory interpretation, to privacy laws, to constitutional matters. By merit of being responsible for our own projects, we have also gained lots of experience in project management and stakeholder communication.

Formal training includes a Diploma of Government, mentoring and other buddy systems. They also regularly promote learning activities for staff that can help them build their skills in general areas, such as MS Office, diversity and inclusion, and presentation skills. Much of this is targeted at an introductory level. They do also promote the use of other learning platforms such as LinkedIn Learning to improve skills specific to your role.
