Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
You are a graduate for 2 years, then A3 for ~6 months, then senior usually for 2-3 years. After that it depends on what you want to do if you want to progress more or not. To reach manager I'd say it will take approx. 7 years.
Graduate, Melbourne - 18 Jul 2024
The graduate pathway is quite linear, running for two years and there is no way to accelerate this. However, after the graduate program there appears to be extensive opportunity for professional development and career growth.

Progression is very similar to any other accounting firm where it is based on your years of experience and your performance whilst working at the firm. There is definitely opportunity to move up the ranks faster than others within the cohort if you put in the effort.

Promotion opportunities after you go through the graduate program, become more senior then move through the ranks of manager and above.
Graduate, Melbourne - 05 Jul 2024
Heaps of promotions opportunities after the grad program, with progression and promotion evident every year or 2.
Graduate, Melbourne - 05 Jul 2024
The promotion timeline is extremely slow. I think that unless people are really in love with the work they do here and the team and have really strong ambition to become a client director or partner, they tend to use PP as a stepping stone to another workplace.

Clear progression path with automatic promotions
Graduate, Melbourne - 04 Jul 2024
There is a clear progression path for those who work hard and contribute to the output of the firm, especially in early years there are great opportunities to accelerate your career.

At Pitcher Partners the managers are transparent of what is expected of you. Particularly at a junior level, it is understood that if you do your job well, you will progress upward (generally 1 year per level). If you are excelling, you may be up for a mid-year promotion.

All grads move up the ranks every 8 months with minimal raise unless you have performed poorly, which you will receive a performance plan to help you being back on track. Monthly catchup with our performance manager is utilised for ongoing feedbacks. I am unsure about what it takes to move up the ranks as a first year grad, but from observations, after completing the graduate program, people move up a rank every year unless performed poorly.

Our graduate program is 2 years with 3 x8 month rotations. It is great to try different things but at the same time the shortfall is that you come out of it without the same level of experience if you stayed in the same place. It means experience between graduates is varying and some people are much more capable at different things and it is hard to be rewarded on an individual level.

Rotation program at Pitcher gives array of experiences to figure out where you want to go in your career early

Promotions only happen once per year and are very structured. I believe you'll be working 2.5-3 years before becoming a senior. Small pay increments after each rotation. Good to have a clear pathway ahead of you and know what you're working towards.

Since I am only a graduate, It's too early for me to comment on this. However, it appears that there is a well-defined promotional structure in place. While it is possible to receive multiple promotions in a relatively short timeframe, it typically takes around seven years to reach a managerial position.
Graduate, Melbourne - 17 Oct 2023
There are many opportunities available to move up the ranks, and these can be done through: Hard work and dedication, showing up and proving to everyone that you are worth a promotion.
Graduate, Melbourne - 13 Oct 2023
Work pays for my CA, which creates many long term career opportunities. Promotions happen yearly so there is a lot of room to grow
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Oct 2023
Similar to other mid-tier and big four firms - accelerated pathway is offered. Technical knowledge and client service are the keys to getting accelerated promotions.
Graduate, Melbourne - 11 Oct 2023
The opportunities are definitely there if you take them. However, can be a little difficult inside the graduate program which lasts for 2 years. I believe the company is working on fixing this issue.
Graduate, Melbourne - 11 Oct 2023
There is a lot of movement both up and sideways, lots of opportunities to try different things and to rise through the ranks if you have found your space.
