What are your thoughts on pay and bonuses at your company?
Pay is fairly high for a graduate role, and there is opportunity for overtime to earn more.
Graduate, Brisbane - 05 Aug 2024
As a starting salary I'm definitely better off than designers in the private sector. So the pay is comparatively good.
Graduate, Brisbane - 05 Aug 2024
The pay is quite high for an entry-level worker. I initially started at an AO3 but was elevated to an AO4 after I was performing tasks at that level, which is good considering I was still just in a grad role and they didn't have to do that.

Satisfied, it's about the same as the average salary as a graduate business analyst.
Graduate, Brisbane - 31 Jan 2023
The pay is definitely satisfactory, especially when comparing to the expected output. Usually no bonuses, unless working overtime through the night or on the weekend to do a 'go-live'.
Graduate, Brisbane - 31 Jan 2023
No bonuses, salary is adequate for the market.
Midlevel, Brisbane - 31 Jan 2023
Think the pay should be a bit higher especially when compared to private.
Graduate, Brisbane - 31 Jan 2023
The pay is fair for a graduate role, I wouldn't say it's the best or the worse. I'm just thankful there were opportunities, especially after COVID-19.
Graduate, Brisbane - 30 Jan 2023
Entry level pay, would like to be paid more however I understand more experience is necessary.
Graduate, Brisbane - 30 Jan 2023
Government fixed salary (no bonuses) - small bump each financial year for inflation, plus for each year worked a more significant bump to AO3.X and/or easy to get temp jobs a level or two higher for a much bigger one from what I hear. So, decent salary right at the start but a decade on I could be working for as much as half of industry standard salary..

Good.

It's alright but there is a larger (national) issue of wage growth stagnation.
Graduate, Brisbane - 30 Jan 2023
Pay is really good as for graduate position. Company provides accrued hour which is very essential.
Graduate, Brisbane - 30 Jan 2023
I think the pays pretty good, and the union fights for us to get raises in line with inflation.
Graduate, Brisbane - 30 Jan 2023
Pay is very high at times for the actual work I do. But I am perhaps biased as historically I've had 'hard' jobs that pay poorly.
Graduate, Brisbane - 30 Jan 2023
Government is very generous.
Graduate, Brisbane - 30 Jan 2023
Pay can be tough, but only a graduate.
Graduate, Brisbane - 30 Jan 2023
I believe it is not as competitive as private industry. However, based on the benefits and work-life balance, it's not a massive turn-off.

What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.

Flexible work hours and ATL. I have a chronic illness and this has made holding down a full time job infinitely easier.

Paid training and approved time to attend training programs that aren't necessarily associated with the department. Also flexibility in work arrangements and a straightforward leave application process.

Accumulated leave.
Graduate, Brisbane - 05 Aug 2024
Ad hoc working from home has been helpful once or twice. Accumulative leave.

Flexible working has been a great perk. Access to salary sacrificing has also been great too.

Higher superannuation.
Midlevel, Brisbane - 31 Jan 2023
Flexibility to do compressed hours is by far the best perk of working for government. My 9-day fortnight is great for my work life balance.

Dept education pays for your taxi rides if you go home sick.
