About the Team
The RDA Trade Compliance Team manages a range of trade compliance responsibilities for the organisation, both global as well as domestic. We ensure the projects meet all of their regulatory requirements relating to importing and exporting of military equipment and technology, transport and storage of weapons and ammunition, and adherence to export controls for Australia as well as all our trading partners including those in Europe, the U.S. and elsewhere.
About the Role
The Trade Compliance Team has a graduate role open for a February 2024 start at MILVEHCOE, Redbank, Queensland. We are seeking applicants with diverse backgrounds including business, commerce, engineering or law graduates.
The Trade Compliance team plays a critical role in ensuring RDA lawfully meets its regulatory and commercial obligations. As a Trade Compliance Graduate, you will have the opportunity to develop your capabilities in Trade Compliance, including: understanding of international law as it relates to military goods, management of controlled technology, weapons licensing, and export controls applied by the various countries RDA deals with. There will also be opportunities for you to be trained in the regulatory requirements of import and export permits and other trade compliance areas, to develop your trade compliance expertise, with a view to becoming a Trade Compliance Specialist within the team.
The general and generic duties of a Trade Compliance Graduate at RDA may include, but are not limited to:
- Being a primary internal point of contact and learning to become a subject matter expert for RDA’s trade compliance records management and providing business-wide guidance on all record keeping matters and reporting requirements;
- Providing data and information to assist with the structuring and negotiation of commercial transactions that require trade control approvals;
- Assisting with applications for regulatory licences including weapons licensing, and export and import approvals;
- Overseeing license and permit expiry and renewal management, including the management of ITAR records;
- Identifying analytical solutions to problems and difficult situations in the day to day operations of the respective team and broader business;
- Working with the trade compliance team to streamline processes and increase productivity;
- Actively developing a thorough understanding of RDA policies, procedures and the Defence industry as a whole;
- Effectively communicating with all key stakeholders across various parts of the business in support of senior team members; and
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your Manager from time to time in support of the Trade Compliance Team.
