Diversity at RSM Australia

8.3
8.3 rating for Diversity, based on 90 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
People are treated based on their role, everyone within that role are basically treated equally at that level. In terms of race and gender, everyone is treated equally. Retention has been an issue, due to a high number of resignations, the team has reduced size by almost 50% in a few months. One issue with the role based treatment, is that the working from home arrangements is not the same for everyone, graduates are required to come in every day, but the next level and above you are able to work from home some days.

Our department comprises of mostly seniors on a visa provided to the company so yes we have other ethnicity but not out of choice. So they can't leave... Grads who live in australia see no reason to stay.

I'm going to say 5 for the moment, because I did notice there are a lot of Men in senior positions. However, I have noticed that the next batch of graduates appears to be diverse, so It may change going forward.

Looking around my office, I see that RSM is recruiting from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures. RSM released updated policies on Parental Leave and Entitlements which are quite generous and seem to encourage a family-friendly return to work for primary and secondary carers. Partners in my office are all male and there's only 3 women in senior leadership (Director positions). This massively underrepresents the number of women as a whole in the office.

Strong empower committee presence, nice to see the company engaged with diversity and other social issues. Continued review of different issues including maternity leave, child care benefits etc.

I do not have any issues with any of the above listed. I think that this office is great. There is a diversity of people working here with different backgrounds, different ethnicities and cultures and I feel that is a great way to learn from each other.

I do know an employee here got her hours changed from full time to part time because she wanted to spend more time with her kids, which is pretty cool. As someone who isnt heterosexual I don't feel unsafe or uncomfortable but I am very straight passing.

A lot of promotion around LGBTQI+ and cultural inclusivity but the workplace is predominantly Caucasian.

Diversity with different cultures and women being present in the office. There seems to be an issue with recruitment as 6 people have left in 6 months however none have been replaced. Company seems to struggle with retention as not many staff have been here longer then 5 years and many people are stressed and not enjoying working here.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
Understanding and getting to know the applicants in a deeper manner
Graduate, Adelaide - 22 Jun 2023
I am unsure how the company approaches this.
Graduate, Gosford - 22 Jun 2023
Unsure. Possibly being very country focused helps attract some.
