Working Hours at RSM Australia

7.8
7.8 rating for Working Hours, based on 90 reviews
How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
People are constantly working overtime due to an unrealistic workload and chargeability requirements. Team members end up working past their standard hours to make up for non-chargeable work, because there is too much to do, and that it is asked to be done. The work hours are set and can be very inflexible and it is also very difficult to obtain leave.

OT is a norm in this industry. But we get no time in lieu despite working in weekends and many OT just like External Audit. The activities after hours get worse and worse, many people would not show up.

I work 7.5 hours a day for 5 days a week. When i am doing my uni, i get 3 hours per class, per week to attend lectures. I usually do 2 classses a semster and try to make sure my classes are on hte same day so that I can take the day off. The remaining hour and a half does need to be made up, which can be annoying as I either need to take a shorter lunch break on other days, or stay behind, the latter of which is usually my prefered option

The company is very flexible, as I can choose what times I want to start/finish. Furthermore (as I work part-time), I have the flexibility to switch days if needed (due to study commitments), if I have communicated the need in advance. Additionally, the company is flexible with how many hours I work from home, as compared to within the office.

The hours are very flexible. I have the option to work earlier, or swap days that I don't work with days that I do, so that I can complete my exams at university.

I'm quite happy with the flexibility the company has, and the work life balance which is critical in the company's progress.

Flexible

This is more on me, but in the first year of the firm I was averaging about 30 minutes of overtime a day, partially due to my tendency to wanting to finish a task, instead of stopping and going home. There are other reasons where either client pressure, or deadlines does lead me to working late, even if my manager doesn't tell me to (they have only explicitly asked a handful if times). However, the reason for the low score, is because I have seen other people in my team, particularly my manager, regularly work late, which I feel is unfair on them.

In my role, the hours can be quite flexible. We generally have core hours when team collaboration and meetings are prioritized, but beyond that, there's flexibility to adjust schedules to accommodate personal needs or project demands.
Graduate, Sydney - 18 Jul 2024
While I am happy with the amount of hours I am working, there is very little flexibility. As a graduate, I am expected to be in the office everyday with no ability to work from home while everyone else in the team is able to.
Graduate, Perth - 18 Jul 2024
As long as the work gets done, they're flexible with hours. Still need to complete a minimum of 7.5 hours a day, but it can be broken up over the day. (Can't do a shorter day and then a longer day though, the timesheet system doesn't seem to allow recording that appropriately)
Graduate, Canberra - 18 Jul 2024
The office and team are very flexible with work hours in-person.
Graduate, Melbourne - 18 Jul 2024
Flexible when it comes to hours, manager to manager specific though - some want no WFH as a graduate starter and others are happy to organise WFH arrangements.
Graduate, Brisbane - 18 Jul 2024
9:00 - 17:30 most days. Potential to have to work more depending on particular needs of certain jobs. Flexibility is great as long as you get your work done on time.
Graduate, Sydney - 18 Jul 2024
Personally, I am satisfied with the number of hours I work. In terms of flexibility, I am not too sure about it as I have only been here for 3 months now.
Graduate, Geraldton - 18 Jul 2024
My company is of average flexibility and hours vary - there are some really long days and there are some short days, it is all fair and depends upon workload.
Graduate, Melbourne - 18 Jul 2024
Very flexible, but as said previously, I need the full time position just kinda hat that I have to need it
Graduate, Ballarat - 18 Jul 2024
I take my lunch break every day and stop work at 5:10pm at the latest. I manage my workload without letting work invade my personal life. I am not being drowned in work to the point where I eat lunch at my desk or stay untill 6pm, like some of my colleagues do.
Graduate, Moora - 18 Jul 2024
Not that flexible if you're a junior, you are expected to stay till 5 even if you have no work
Graduate, Sydney - 18 Jul 2024
I feel like I am still adjusting spending 8 hours a day, as I am use to leaving school by 3:20pm instead of 4:30pm. However I know the company is very flexible for part-time employees who might be still studying. I feel like we get plenty of hours.
