Application Process & Interviews at SW Accountants & Advisors

8.8
8.8 rating for Recruitment, based on 58 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
The interview process was extremely efficient - upon response from my application the process took less than two weeks. The first stage was a phone call which then led to plyometrics testing's. After satisfying these stages there is an online interview, followed by a in-person interview with a partner.

I think the hiring process is pretty standard.
Graduate, Sydney - 23 Aug 2024
The hiring process is good. You need to go through a phone interview and a team's interview with the HR lady and then the final stage interview you get to meet and have a coffee with a member of the team you are joining and then one of the directors of the team. I think the interview process is good; however, I feel like at the second stage you should meet with a manager of the team so they can see whether you are a good fit for the team before you meet with the director.
Graduate, Sydney - 21 Aug 2024
The process is easy and straight forward.
Graduate, Perth - 19 Aug 2024
I really like the hiring process as it wasn't drawn out. I first had to submit and application with an answer to the question tell us about a time you have embraced the ride, which was one of their values. I then had a teams interview with the representative for People and Culture for my division that I was applying for. I then had to complete some testing and then an interview with an associate director from the division and was then offered an job. The process took around 2 weeks.

Graduate, Sydney - 15 Aug 2024
The hiring process was fairly straight forward. After applying for the position, I received a call from our recruitment advisor who asked me several questions. I was lucky enough to receive an interview from my partner. After the interview I was offered a position with the firm. This was approximately 9 months before starting with SW Accountants & Advisors. They held several meetups with the graduate cohort prior to starting.

Graduate, Sydney - 10 Aug 2023
I first had a video interview with an employee from the People and Culture division which was great. We went through a few different scenario questions and spoke about the firm and how it operates. Then I had an assessment to complete, after that I proceeded to the final stage of interviewing, which was an in-person interview. The interview was great and both interviewers were very personable and easy to talk to.
Graduate, Melbourne - 10 Aug 2023
The interview process was very formal and good that it was in person, and we were about to come into the actual office instead of just doing online interviews.
Graduate, Melbourne - 10 Aug 2023
It was a very quick process, which I really appreciated.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Aug 2023

Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Aug 2023
The interview was very welcoming and informative.
Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Aug 2023
The interview process was very smooth and one of the best I experienced. It was simply a first phone screening, talking for about 5 to 10 minutes about why I wanted the role, how I found my studies in accounting, and so on. Then a second phone screening with another person from HR with similar questions, but this time I was prepared and allowed to ask my own questions too. After that, a third in-person interview was conducted at the office with one of the partners and one of the managers. It was just me, the partner and the manager. The partner was very friendly and simply had a conversation with me, about both the role and why I wanted it, but also just about me as a person in general, how I found university, what I do with my free time, any stories from my days in retail, just a simple 30 minute get-to-know you kind of chat. I will never forget it, it was actually pretty fun.

I can't remember too much from my interview. I was specifically asked about my background because my partner was interested in finding someone with a different mindset. I had previously worked as a civil engineer which I think worked in my favour. My partner also works with a lot of the cloud-software's and I was asked about my background in IT. I had previously studied IT and worked as an IT technician after year 12.

Applying for vacation programs is going to allow you to understand some of the concepts learned at uni, and it will present you with more opportunities than those who have had no experience upon graduating. I think that studying hard at university is definitely going to help. Having a strong foundation from uni will mean that things will make more sense from earlier on. Have a look at what each company has to offer. A larger company will likely provide more learning opportunities. Familiarizing yourself with Microsoft Excel is essential. Working with Xero and other Cloud software's will also be beneficial.
Graduate, Melbourne - 15 Aug 2024
The most important thing to do is to make yourself known to the company. As a graduate or intern, your skills are not very developed and the recruiter is aware of this. There is little to no expectation that you are going to be equipped to do the job when you start. Therefore, you have to make yourself stand out with your personality and eagerness to know the company. Attend social events and catch-ups that the company is holding and engage on social media, trust me the recruiters take notice and it all counts towards your chances.

Graduate, Melbourne - 08 Aug 2023
Don't take the application process, or yourself too seriously. It's quite easy to do well if you are just a genuine person who can communicate with others. Ultimately, the job of auditing is one of communication, and what they are looking for generally is not a technical candidate who got all HD's in their course-work, but rather someone who is able to casually chat, be genuine, socialise, ask questions, learn on the fly, and so on.
Graduate, Melbourne - 07 Aug 2023
Understand what you're looking for in an employer and whether the company would be a good fit for where you want to take your career.
