Job Satisfaction at Steadfast Group

In my role, I work with a variety of challenging yet insightful actuarial projects across different underwriting agencies. Despite the many challenges, working as an actuary, I still feel comfortable to explore different learning experiences with the supportive guidance I have received from my team.

In the graduate program responsibilities can include data analysis, research and developing a deeper understanding of risk evaluation.

Every now an then you will be tasked with a 'big' project to complete, which is more satisfying and meaningful than some of the other projects or tasks that you are assigned. At the majority of the rotations you are completing very minor admin tasks, and only by the very end of the rotation do you start completing more meaningful work, only for you to rotate to the next place. I was able to complete 'Project Graph' which I was very grateful for as I found it to be a genuine responsbility of mine to produce effective and meaningful outcomes for SCS.

Sometimes the work can be a little repetitive, or there is an imbalance of workload, meaning one moment you are very busy and the next you're struggling to find something to do (especially if the team is very busy). In some rotations, the manager will give you a project and tasks to do, as well as teach you their role and responsibilities which I find extremely helpful. I often take the initiative and ask lots of questions or ask for certain opportunities from the team so I can get involved in the short amount of time I have.

Day to day varies depending on my rotation but currently: Check emails / view insurancenews.com.au for local Insurance updates. Currently reviewing insurance contracts for a project. Work on my Graduate presentation. Mapping out claims to visually the distance between losses.

Responsibilities include looking after employee benefits, insurer relationships, projection design and completion as well as compiling and analysing data.
