Application Process & Interviews at Steadfast Group

8.9
8.9 rating for Recruitment, based on 8 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
After applying online with my CV, I was asked to submit a video interview which was easy to complete. I was then called for a second interview, which took place on zoom, with my current boss. After that, I was offered the internship and began discussing flexible working times.
Intern, Sydney - 18 Jul 2024
The interview process included a 5-minute video interview, followed by the first in-person interview by previous graduates. This was then followed by an interview with the HR team, including the Head of People & Culture, and an assessment. The final interview was with the CEO.

The recruitment and interview process was pretty straight forward. I didn't like the initial recorded interview, I think it didn't play to my strengths and was overall just a bit awkward as I wasn't speaking to a real person. Maybe a zoom interview would have been better. I also believe some social events / assessments could have been good. I found the interview questions between round 2 & 3 were similar so I provided very similar responses. The final round with Rob was fun. However, I was so unsure if I had the job or not, as it wouldn't make sense to meet him if I didn't have it, but also I was never told if the final round was make or break for the job. I had a fair certainty that I had it but I was also pretty confused if I was not going to receive and offer.

Quick, personal, flexible and friendly. When arranging times to be interviews they worked around my schedule.

I really appreciate the face to face element in the interview process. The HR team make you feel very welcome and comfortable. The only downside is the video interviews as it is quite daunting and makes me nervous to where I cannot properly conduct myself in the way I usually do. It is also weird speaking to a laptop.

The interview process comprised of four stages: a video assessment, an interview with former graduates, a meeting with HR along with a mini essay, and a final interview with the CEO. While this may seem intimidating, Steadfast succeeded in establishing a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere throughout the interviews, where the focus was simply on getting to know you.

The interview process was very smooth. It is a true standout in comparison to other graduate program recruitment processes. There was an online video application where you are asked basic questions about yourself & then 2 in person interviews. In the second interview, I answered a long response question which I was given the brief 1 week before, so I had time to prepare my answer.

The process was very smooth and the interviewers did their best to ensure I was comfortable to reduce those interview nerves in order to get to know me properly.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
To be honest, I don't remember anything.
Intern, Sydney - 18 Jul 2024
General and competency questions.
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Jul 2024
I was asked several personality questions, what my hobbies are, what do I do in my spare time etc, work experience. Which was pretty standard. Then I was also asked several situation questions to demonstrate my knowledge on handling complex issues and problem solving abilities. Before my interviews I googled typical interview questions and prepared for them. They ended up being very similar on the day.

Behavioural based questions targeted at relevant competencies that are important to the role.
Graduate, Sydney - 11 Aug 2023
The interview was almost conversational, as it was at first getting to know me, and my experience. I was asked some behavioural questions which I was able to reflect on past experiences.
Graduate, Sydney - 10 Apr 2023
The questions spanned a wide range of topics, including past work experiences, hobbies, and an exploration of your personality. It was intriguing because the interview process delved beyond just work-related aspects and aimed to uncover various facets of your personality and interests.

You will be asked general questions about your degree, work experience. But they don't ask questions about your insurance knowledge as they know you are new. They want to see whether you align to their values. You can teach insurance, but you cannot teach someone how to be a good person.
Graduate, Sydney - 10 Apr 2023
Questions were more focused on behavorial style rather than technical.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Always research the company, familiarise yourself with the company values and consider how your core values relate to them. It is also important to take into account what is expected of you in the job position.
Intern, Sydney - 18 Jul 2024
Just be your authentic self.
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Jul 2024
Research the industry and company a bit before you do your interviews. Practice speaking about your experience, interests and positive qualities in a professional way. I typically don't like talking myself up so I had to practice this. Then finally prepare for common / hard interview questions and pre write responses to them so on the day you are not met with a curve ball you cannot answer.
Graduate, Sydney - 08 Jul 2024
Pre prepare working examples of questions you think you will be asked, and importantly be authentic as culture fit is very important to them.

Not knowing much about insurance is okay! Just make sure to highlight the talent you would bring to the company, whether that be your strengths from past experiences or your character.
Graduate, Sydney - 10 Apr 2023
Be prepared to showcase your strengths through specific examples from your past experiences that highlight how you align with Steadfast's culture and values.
