Management at Stockland

9.0
9.0 rating for Management, based on 44 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
I think that it has been great. Twice, I had to do my personal evaluation, where I was very humble about my performance review, and two different managers I had on two different occasions have corrected me by raising my performance to excellent or outstanding. My manager always praises the work I do and is there to help when I need it. He has laid out plans for the development of our team members that we follow. Communication is great and I feel like I can discuss things easily.

Very accessible. As mentioned, the entire office is hot desking so they are always in reach when needed.

Again, some are better than others. Managers and mentors need to learn how to prioritise the grads that look up to them. The communication, performance feedback, giving praise and recognition - all seem to be low in their list of priorities, from what I have experienced. But then again, maybe grads need to be better at asking. The problem is, being new to the industry/company, we don't know what it is we are supposed to be asking yet or what we need to learn or even how to ask.

My manager has been extremely helpful and approachable. From day 1, she has taken steps to make sure that I am set up for success, and has also taken numerous opportunities to mentor me and introduce me to Stockland's processes. Although Stockland has its formal performance review processes, my manager practices informal feedback and helps me develop my skills in real time and consistently which I highly value and appreciate.

My current manager makes time for me always. I have had some poor managers in previous roles within the company however. Often felt like I was the lowest priority, and almost in competition with my manager.

My managers have been good during my time. They are always available for a chat, mentoring and feedback. They are also fair with deadlines and timeframes, as well as acknowledging successes within the team.

Management, even very senior/C suite, interact with graduates. Standard managers make an attempt to check in and work with grads

Yes, most managers are great mentors. but there has been a mix as some are hard to reach.

Management as a whole seem extremely good. The company puts emphasis on career progression and diversity, and this is reflected by managers. There are a number of processes in place that ensure management are providing tools for growth and job satisfaction.

Yes, they are available for when I need to meet them or ask them questions ad-hoc. However, we have regular sessions with our managers as well as a career coach. While my manager helps me with my work within my team and whatever concerns I have with my work such as exploring a different function of our team, the career coach is more responsible for guiding my professional development. We have regular catchups with both. However, everyone is available to help out with these which includes people within my team and outside.

They do their best to set aside time for your day to day learning, as well as broader personal development.

The managers are friendly and make a conscious effort to check up on us to see how we're progressing. It is easy to let them know if we are having any issues.

Managers are generally available for a chat, providing feedback an just contributing to office banter. They are very good at providing feedback and recognition of accomplishments in team meetings, emails or teams.

As a graduate you are allocated a career coach which is great, but even without that I have managed to gain multiple mentors due to how open and accepting management are. Some managers struggle to give recognition but overall I would say its good.
