Culture at TAL Australia

8.9
8.9 rating for Culture, based on 46 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
No matter which department you work for, there are always many young people who are keen to go for lunch or drinks together. Some departments are quieter than others depending on the demographic, so it might take a bit of effort to build a network, however, there are plenty of events and initiatives to be involved in so just requires some proactivity.

Incredibly Poor. Every company says they have the best culture. Every company. Well for the record, this company in fact does not.

Heirarchy is relatively strong within the company and should be respected. Within teams there are decent levels of cooperation, teamwork and socialising.

The culture is great with people being nice, helpful and supportive during work, and the people are also respectful after hours. The structure and hierarchy is fairly consistent for most of the teams, but the culture can sometimes vary depending on the nature of the work that is done. Some teams may be really busy with a lot of urgent work and do not have as much time for socialising/team lunches, whereas other teams may have a lot more time to socialise.

Team culture at TAL is excellent! Everyone is very willing to support and help out. The structure and hierarchy is flat in nature, therefore from a leaderships perspective i have had the opportunity to connect with the leaders in my business unit which is a fantastic opportunity and gives great exposure as a grad too. We have high levels of teamwork and collaboration. In all the teams i have been in so far i have never experienced feeling of isolation and have always felt supported. In my grad cohort, we are all very close. As there are about 18 of us we all make an effort to have lunch together and catch up.

There is generally very little after hours work needed and a standard 9-5 is expected from employees, obviously this will change sometimes based on workload but there isnt an expectation that staff continually work beyond their normal hours. Further, the structure is relatively flat and with an open office, senior leadership is often within close proximity allowing for visibility. But, as like other organisaitions, there is a little to be desired for socialisation. We have a social club, but without that there isnt a great deal of out of office socialisation culture at the TAL, particularly in finance.

Company culture is great, everyone is friendly and open to getting to know each other. Flat structure/hierachy as previously mentioned, leadership is friendly too.

Everyone has lunch together and chats in the office and after hours we sometimes go for dinner and dessert. It is a flat structure hierarchical which is great for learning off experienced colleagues.

Everybody is willing to help each other, supportive culture that knows how to have fun within reason but is also very effective at getting the job done and setting high standards.

Very social colleagues. Hierarchy exists but is not overbearing.

I feel that senior leaders are pretty approachable. In terms of cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues is stronger when at the office, because it is easier to talk with others face-to-face. After hours' culture is dependent on the people around you and if they decide to go do anything after work. There is no pressure to join in from the people I work in. However, with the other graduates, I do feel pressured to join in after-hours activities.

The culture in the company is good. Everyone is nice and willing to help each other. There is also the TAL Social Connect Club which encourages more socialising and collaboration between different people around the whole company.

It's nice that the grad cohort is small so I am able to get to know everyone and get close to them. My team culture is alright, we have birthday celebrations and monthly meetings, however, we don't go out after hours or have team bonding events.

The culture is great, leaders are also open to assist you with any questions you may have, from finding rooms in the office, to work-related queries. Very welcoming culture.

Good culture, easy to talk to anyone.

Good company culture, easy to ask anyone for help or just gneral advice. My team is also great to work with and they foster my growth as a graduate.

As a Graduate we receive a lot of support, not only from our leaders, but also the direct teams around us. My graduate cohort is a team of 19 across all 7 disciplines. We all support each other, and help each other with ideas if its ever needed!

Structure can be a bit complex, and whilst a hierarchy exists, it is not too overbearing. Socialising is fluid and there are plenty of opportunities to get to know your colleagues.
