As a part of the Planning and Controls team, I assist the senior planners with their tasks with programs such as Aphex and P6.

Responsible for earthworks and drainage quality works and to make sure correct laboratory tests are conducted onsite according to MRWA specifications; raising and closing quality lots by meeting requirements; tracking of cost to meet required budget and to ensure appropriate permits and approvals are in place to facilitate daily works on site. Manage and ensure daily work activities are undertaken in accordance with permits, approvals, design drawings, specifications, work management plans and communicating with other teams on the project. Daily, weekly, and monthly cost report to Project Engineer and Section Manager. Assist in procuring and arranging material on site ahead of the works to avoid delays. Plan 3-week lookahead for the works to undergo on site and communicate with supervisors and ensure works are completed on time. Request setout files for the areas and do the pit build ups according to schedule for the crew to install drainage lines. Communicate with numerous different section engineers to ensure works can be programmed or organize to happen according to schedule, accommodating any critical action path.

I am a Site Engineer, working with the projects team. A regular day for me varies, which I quite like, but would generally consist of working onsite, ensuring day to day site activities are running as they should be, and if there is an issue I either just fix the issue myself, or go to someone more senior with a plan and ask for their opinion/guidance. I am involved with QA checks, ordering materials, organizing mini projects on site and ensuring they are completed within spec and as desired.

The work I am doing is okay, however it becomes difficult to continue working in environment where supervisor's communication skills are poor, mentally draining.

I am in cost control which is an exciting opportunity as there are not many people in Australia trained in this area.

As a Finance Intern on the Accounts Payable team, I played a key role in supporting AP specialists to ensure the accurate and timely processing of daily invoices, a critical function in maintaining the company's financial operations. My daily responsibilities included facilitating the review of the Delegation of Authority (DOA), and ensuring that all financial transactions were properly authorized. I also validated Purchase and Work Orders within Oracle Content Management to guarantee accurate record-keeping and processing. Additionally, I was responsible for validating tax invoices and consistently updating our Purchase Orders tracker within the system.

Responsibilities assigned seem higher than my pay grade.

I am constantly exposed to a wide variety of different tasks, giving me appreciation of various different business streams and the entire construction process.
