I was first put on at Acciona as an Undergraduate. I applied through the portal that was used by Swinburne University and its industry partners. I had a phone conversation/interview with HR, then an in-person interview with the Operations Manager. After this I was offered the job.

My interview felt like he just really wanted to get a gauge of whether I was a good fit for the business, and whether the business would be a good fit for me. Most of the questions revolved around me as a person, my interests, what experience I have and what I want to do with my work/career. This gave a good impression of the business, as it seemed they really cared about their people. He then said it was my turn to ask questions, so I just ran through a list of questions I'd prepared which we discussed.

Speak to people who work in the industry about what the role you're applying for to understand what it really looks like, not just how it's described on a job listing. Ask people in the industry to explain the industry as a whole to you and all the things which are valuable to know that aren't taught at University, as these aren't things that can be researched on Google.
