As a graduate, my role is to provide project support. This means completing tasks assigned to me by the project manager. These mainly include qualitative and quantitative data analysis, spatial analysis, report writing, and some research. I occasionally attend external meetings with clients.

My role as a graduate is exciting, as I'm encouraged to work across a range of project area and with a variety of people in order to gain a good foundation/experience in what's available to work on at Alluvium. Day to day, my responsibilities may involve attending a resourcing meeting with my immediate team to discuss our respective focus and capacity for the week, and if anyone may need assistance. I may then have a meeting with a client and fellow team member to provide an update on how a project is progressing, and then discuss any aspects of the project that require feedback from the client. I may then be at my desk for a number of hours working on project work, which can range from data analysis in Excel, to writing communication/education materials for public dissemination, to making a map in QGIS, to designing an engagement workshop, or doing a literature review.

I provide support to projects. This could include undertaking preliminary research on projects, identifying previous research and where there are gaps, attending client meetings and taking notes, reviewing policies, supporting the analysis and write-up of reports, and taking up ad-hoc tasks such as restructuring reports, developing diagrams and creating workshop materials.

Within the urban water team, we do a lot of surface water strategy and integrated water management plannings. graduates would get assigned to projects by their managers and work while learning at the same time. I would categorize my time into 15% meetings, 25% gathering information, 30% modelling, 30% report writing.
