Please comment on your role and day-to-day responsibilities.
There is some coding (Python), but my day to day responsibilities are mostly about designing processes and systems around data. There is also quite a bit of manual work that is not so enjoyable (usually in Excel or SAS)

Currently I work as a Data scientist and I very much enjoy my work. My day to day consists mostly of understanding business requirements, writing code to gather requisite data, and an analysing outputs. I've previously been in more operational roles and project management. This was not to my liking as I don't like the unnecessary urgency caused by artificially tight deadlines.

Work is ok, although I was hired as a statistical analyst and I hardly ever analyse statistics
4 years at the organisation, was a grad in 2020, Hobart - 23 Jul 2024
I like my daily work. Mostly project based - innovation projects. Daily tasks: reviewing resources, documentation, communications; creating templates and resources; provision of subject matter advice. I am a SME with qualifications in a specific area. I run my stream and am responsible for forward work planning, project management, etc.
Completed Grad Program, Melbourne - 23 Jul 2024
I get to do projects rather than the same thing over and over, which I love for the variety. I think my role is a little too much documentation and not enough programming given my skillset.

My role is to prepare national data for statistical publication, from collection, processing, and analysis, through to drafting statistical commentary and publishing the annual releases. I also respond to ad hoc data requests, sometimes creating customised datasets. Between working on national publications, I work on projects with the aim of improving the existing data releases, statistical classifications, and the general processes of the team.
APS5, Sydney - 22 Jul 2024
I enjoy me day to day as it is always different, but I can always see the value in my tasks. It's very fulfilling and quite consistent in terms of workload.
Graduate, Melbourne - 22 Jul 2024
I am responsible for integrated datasets into the Person Level Integrated Data Asset (PLIDA). This involves performing safe data checks and following standard operating procedures to perform safe data treatments and assemble analytical data products.
Graduate, Adelaide - 22 Jul 2024
The work plan can change on a whim. Upper management seems to not value the time put into projects. work that takes days to complete will be entirely scrapped for no apparent reason. Better project planning could avoid this. Some staff members also cruise through with just the bare minimum of work. given the lack of promotion opportunities, we are not incentivised to work hard.
