Management at Australian Taxation Office (ATO)

I have had great managers and mentors during and after the Graduate program. I receive constructive feedback and am always recognised for my achievements. Part of me ending up in my current team, was my career development manager identifying my skills that were transferrable to this team.

I have felt extremely supported and guided by all my managers at the ATO. they have been excellent mentors, guided me in the right direction and provided great advice when I have faced any issues. I also have felt comfortable to raise any personal issues with my managers, and they have always been empathetic and understanding of my situation. I meet with my manager one on one on a weekly basis, and also as a team on a weekly basis. My manager provides us with any operational updates in a weekly meeting, as well as through online communication channels such as teams. My manager always provides praise and recognition for hard work.

My managers are great mentors, and they are always willing to support my learning and growth. We have several weekly catch ups to discuss my progress in addition to feedback on my performance during the week. We use Teams, emails and Team meetings as well as in person catch up to communicate.

I have found easy to with my own Career Development Manager and Rotation Team Leader/mentor. In a past rotation, I worked with quite a few staff members on separate cases, all of them were helpful and genuine in wanting to assist graduates. Our Call Centre mentors were superb at their jobs, without their support I would not have dared taken my first call.

Managers are very busy but if you request to setup meeting via Webex or phone. They are available.

Managers are accessible. Sometimes they seem to suggest that WFH agreements and/or flexible work arrangements could be plucked away if you don't adhere to them rigidly. That's not so good. But overall, particularly my director, they are approachable and supportive.

Everyone is very approachable and as a graduate, you are continually advised to ask questions and seek guidance when required. The Melbourne Career Development Manager is exceptional and will guide you through the grad year, providing assistance whenever needed.

We can have access to our managers with different channels. We have our 1-2-1 meetings and also can be connected with ATO communication channels.

My manager is very experienced in litigation, and also the voidable transactions claim. she is very nice and willing to communicate with all employees

All managers have been great and really easy to work with. I have learned a lot from my managers and consider them mentors. They always have your best interested at heart.

I have found my managers to be very supportive and understanding of my goals. The senior management is also very supportive and easy to approach. I have a mentor in the team who is an EL1. They are very good at providing me feedback and encouraging me to develop my skills. Important news and feedback is communicated in a timely manner and any issue or concerns are dealt with promptly.

Very friendly managers, always willing to offer support and you are recognised for your work and given feedback on improvement.

Managers are extremely accessible and make themselves available for employees. We have regular check-in conversations where feedback and recognition is provided.

I am extremely satisfied with the Career Development Manager (CDM), Team Leaders and Rotation Mentors I have had throughout the ATO Graduate Program. The 12-month probation period has included regular 'check-ins' support and feedback sessions. I have received praise and recognition from each of my managers, team leaders and mentors. I've made good connections and a network where I still regularly catch up with previous rotation managers and colleagues.

My managers have all been incredibly accessible and supportive. They have taken an active interest in me, both in my work and in me as a person. We have regular performance appraisals and I feel well rewarded and recognised for my work.
