How flexible is your company when it comes to hours?
My work hours are very flexible by nature of a non-client contact environment. My manger allows me to take leave when needed.
Graduate, Adelaide - 21 Aug 2024
The ATO is very flexible when it comes to working hours. In my role, I generally do work hours over a standard day but that is due to current work loads and pressures. Although I do work over standard hours generally, I am always encouraged to finish early where possible and not work over time.
Started as a graduate in 2022, now working as a Career Development Manager, Melbourne - 21 Aug 2024
I work full time and I really enjoy the flexibility of being able to choose my hours during the bandwidth of 7am and 7pm.
Graduate, Melbourne - 12 Aug 2024
I am allowed to have a work from home arrangement according to our Enterprise Agreement and to leave work early on days I have to pick my child from school, so it is flexible in that sense.

2 days in office and 3 days' work from home.
Graduate, Sydney - 29 Jul 2024
The flexible work arrangements are good and very much appreciated (by me), but it often feels that if the formal work from home agreement is not adhered to 100% (i.e., if you take too many ad hoc days or leave on an office day, etc.) then the agreement could be revoked. That causes a some stress and anxiety.

The ATO focuses on a work/life balance. Even as a graduate we have the flexibility to work from home several days a work although, can vary depending on the business line you have been assigned.
Graduate, Melbourne - 18 Jul 2024
Personal leaves are well supported.
Graduate, Canberra - 11 Jul 2024
Flexible
Graduate, Perth - 11 Jul 2024
I love the flexibility of the work hours in ATO. You can build the flex, use the flex. It's one of the best things I love about ATO.
Graduate, Brisbane - 11 Jul 2024
The working hours are flexible and hybrid. We can negotiate the number of days working from home and the number of hours working daily.
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Jul 2024
7.35 hours per day. if we finish work late, we can build flexible hours which can be used by us for early leave and so on.
Graduate, Adelaide - 09 Jul 2024
Standard working day is 7.21 hours per day and you can easily build flex. I often use flex to go to appointments and finish earlier for special events.
APS 6, Brisbane - 04 Jul 2024
The standard work hours are 7 hours 21 minutes within the 12 hour bandwidth of 7 am to 7 pm. There are times when the team is busy and I work longer hours than the standard. This goes towards my Flex balance, and I can work less hours when it's not too busy or take a Flex leave to reduce my Flex balance. Overall, I feel very supported by my team leaders and senior staff in not overworking and having a work-life balance. 'Flex' gives me flexibility to manage my time and prioritise work and life accordingly.
Junior staff (APS4), Sydney - 03 Jul 2024
Very flexible as long as you complete the required working time which is 7 hours and 21 minutes excluding the break. If I've worked extra on a day, I can accumlate flex which can be used to leave early on a certain day or can take a whole day off with sufficient flex.
Graduate, Sydney - 03 Jul 2024
I worked full time, and if you work extra, you get to accrue 'flex time' where you can use it for an appointment on a Monday morning, or days where you felt like taking time off earlier. The managers are very flexible on the start and end time, as long as you do the full work hours everyday/ using your flex if you leave early.
Graduate, Adelaide - 15 Nov 2022
Extremely flexible. Expected to work 7.21 hours a day.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Nov 2022
Start and finish times are pretty flexible depending on which area you are working in, hours to be worked within a 7am to 7pm bandwidth. We are required to work 3 days in the office, with 2 days WFH.
Graduate, Brisbane - 04 Nov 2022
The current split of 3 days in the office and two at home is perfect. It provides a good balance.
Graduate, Adelaide - 04 Nov 2022
There is extreme flexibility available. Some weeks will be much busier than others but the following week may be less busy and is a good opportunity to utilise the flex hours built up and relax after busy periods.
