7.2
7.2 rating for Recruitment, based on 11 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
The newly changed graduate program is quite unorganized. Fusion involved too much it's very odd for investment department.
Graduate, Melbourne - 31 Jul 2024
It is the same as every other graduate recruitment process. Generally quite tiresome and long. The questions in the one-way interview and assessment centre were pretty standard. Then there was a follow up interview in the office for the last round.

The process was quite standard. Comparable to most other application processes I went through during that time. An application, video interview, assessment centre and interview.

We had a series of interviews - psychometrics, one-way video, a group observational video session and a more formal one on one interview. While seeming to be a bit strenuous, I think this is pretty on par with graduate roles broadly.

My interview process in 2021 was an online questionnaire + resume/cover letter submission, psychometric test, phone interview with the P&C team and a video interview with the Investments team.
Graduate, Melbourne - 16 Jul 2024
A very long and tedious process, but very informative. It is also very competitive.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Jul 2024
It was pretty great compared to other graduate programs I had applied to, there were a lot of steps to go through but I believe it was a good process overall

There were many steps in the process for the graduate program interview. This started with the usually submitting of a resume and answering a few basic questions. I then completed a round of psychometric testing. Then recorded myself answering questions in a one-way interview. Then completed an assessment centre with a group component and an individual interview with pre-prepared material.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
Can't remember exact questions but very basic recruitment questions. We were asked to prepare a 3 minute presentation on an issue facing Superannuation for the assessment centre. So that required prior research and preparation. But all other questions and the final interview were very standard.
Graduate, Melbourne - 22 Jul 2024
I was asked about situations in my previous work or university studies that showed my willingness to learn, think on my feet, as well as other questions about my personality.
Graduate, Melbourne - 17 Jul 2024
I was asked about my previous roles. Pretty much invoked the typical STAR method, without requiring much technical/industry knowledge.
Graduate, Melbourne - 16 Jul 2024
Behavioural type questions - when was a time you failed, etc.

What AustralianSuper Value to you align with the most? Give me an example of a time you had to deal with something challenging? What are you interested outside of work?
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Jul 2024
Provide a suggestion on how AustralianSuper can stay ahead in the superannuation field. How do you live and work by the values tell us about a time you have had to compromise
Graduate, Melbourne - 02 Jul 2024
I was asked questions about my knowledge of the business, how I would fit in with the culture including our values, and other applicable knowledge needed for the job. I was also asked some of the standard interview questions about myself that were to be expected.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
Research the company before applying. Make sure that you know the values and try and look at recent reports or AGMs to pick up on some recent news that you can speak to. I also try and find news that I can relate to or am invested in such as women in super/proportion of women in leadership at the company. Just show that you are enthusiastic and have actually put effort into researching the company.

Align your application to our values and show that you have a willingness to learn and develop yourself.
Graduate, Melbourne - 17 Jul 2024
I think the most important thing when it comes to AustralianSuper is assessing whether you align with the Fund's values.
Graduate, Melbourne - 16 Jul 2024
Reach out to existing employees or industry peers for advice. Build technical capability (excel, Python, etc.) and demonstrate curiosity about the industry/firm.
Graduate, Melbourne - 16 Jul 2024
Research on the company, be prepared with printed papers and practice your answers. Treat it like a conversation and not an interview, let your personality shine through.
Graduate, Melbourne - 09 Jul 2024
Prepare well for the assessment center, make sure to complete the required presentations and to the best you can, as well as prepare some answers to general interview questions, this is where they will make the decision on you, the final interview just cements their decision, I think only a couple people that made it to final interviews didn't make it to the program.
Graduate, Melbourne - 02 Jul 2024
I would recommend that they think about how they would best fit into the company and its culture, as well as learn some basic information about what we do and the different possible departments they could rotate through.
