Pros & Cons

  • The culture is really good. I feel a strong sense of purpose working here.
  • The Fund is very supportive of your development, putting in the effort to facilitate experiences and opportunities which align with your goals.
  • The company is generally very flexible with work hours. It is strongly encouraged to come in around an average of at least 2 days each work to the office.
  • Great to have a graduate cohort to work with... flexible workplace... can work from home a few days a week.
  • Everyone is very helpful, especially with helping graduates. There are many great teams to try and learn new skills and develop both technical and soft skills.
  • I often experience some idle time as a graduate when waiting for more work to complete.
  • As a graduate, it is sometimes hard to get substantial work... rotating through many different teams means you are not in one place for long enough to get substantial work.
  • There is a bunch of 'development' sessions... these are all soft skills that most of us have developed prior to this program.
  • Bureaucracy and a tendency to run processes in a way that may be outdated but maintain status quo.
  • Sometimes teams are middle-to-senior manager heavy and junior staff don't get much support from colleagues to bridge the skills gap, therefore higher expectations to get ahead/up the learning curve faster than normal.

It was pretty great compared to other graduate programs I had applied to, there were a lot of steps to go through but I believe it was a good process overall.

The pay for grads is great, there is a huge difference between grads at AussieSuper and other grad programs in the same industry (in a positive way).

Training
The majority of the 'training' has been my on the job learning experiences. Either learning through osmosis or just through time at the Fund. We have been provided structured development sessions for soft-skills, though not sure that these have delivered as much in the skills department as has been desired.
