In 1994, the state government restructured local government in Victoria. The reforms dissolved 210 councils and created 78 new councils through amalgamations. As part of the reforms, the City of Springvale and the City of Dandenong were merged to create the City of Greater Dandenong.
We pride ourselves on putting people first and are dedicated to working as a team with a shared passion for achieving the best outcomes for our city. We embrace the diversity of our vibrant community and want our staff to grow, be inspired, and love what they do and where they work.
At the City of Greater Dandenong, we recognize that our team is vital to the delivery of excellent service to our community and the achievement of our long-term vision. We believe in providing an environment where staff can thrive, both in the work they do and in how they learn and develop as people and professionals, and therefore help to make a positive difference in our community.

Biodiversity is the variety of all living things; the different plants, animals, and microorganisms, and the ecosystems they form. Indigenous vegetation is very fragmented in urban areas.
The Parks team manages our bushland reserves and open spaces to control weeds and support regeneration as these areas contribute to our biodiversity. However, we all have a responsibility to care for our local bushland and to contribute to growing biodiversity in our backyards. There are many ways to get involved – attend a community planting day or environmental event or download our Growing Biodiversity booklet to learn more about what you can do to increase biodiversity.
