Management at Datacom Australia & New Zealand

8.1
8.1 rating for Management, based on 26 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
My manager is always contactable and supportive, he has always communicated effectively and held important meaningful discussions around subjects I found difficult to speak on. As I am still a graduate, my manager has (in my opinion) given me a certain leeway, I have made some mistakes along the way and this was due to my own thought process in that, I felt I knew what I was doing, alas, I did not. My manager has met with me to discuss and resolve these issues in a manner that is respectful and informative. The help and support of my manager is always available to me and I am thankful.

Managers at my workplace are not very accessible. It often feels challenging to get time with them for guidance or support. As a result, the mentorship aspect is lacking, which impacts my ability to grow and develop within the company. Internal communication is inconsistent, with important information sometimes not being disseminated effectively. Performance feedback tends to be infrequent and lacks constructive detail, making it hard to understand how to improve. Praise and recognition are rare, and when given, they don't feel personalized or sincere. Overall, the approach to management, communication, and recognition needs significant improvement to create a more supportive and motivating work environment.

Managers can sometimes be a bit hard to get a hold of - largely due to their workload, but when I do get a hold of them, they're nothing but helpful and supportive. Even when I stuff something up!

I believe the managers are very professional and good at their jobs. When engaging with them feedback and recognition is great however, there aren't distinct role separations from people management and client duties, therefore people management seems to be addressed after client work is completed. This can make it difficult for career progression and feedback.

They are very very easy to approach, and help support me in my efforts to grow and improve.

Really depends what team you are in. Macro management for sure, but often you will have more to do with your project team lead than your manager anyway. New performance management system is painful and tedious to use, even if the idea is worthwhile.

I have some extremely promising managers, one continuously dumps advise on us about our positions, the other continuously provides behavioral warnings so we stay on top of things and constantly keeps up the vibe and check ins give them a raise
