9.2 rating for Management, based on 41 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
I have had an amazing manager who has given me excellent advice, lots of meaningful work, and has established a very reasonable communication system.

I have had great supervisors who are very supportive and caring in terms of my learning and work opportunities.

Managers are varied but generally very supportive. Some may be more time-poor than others. The integrated PDA process allows for a structure approached to performance feedback.

The managers are extremely interested in me being comfortable here with the work I am tasked with and whether there is anything they can do to help me grow professionally

The managers in my area are all super approachable and friendly. They are happy to mentor but you have to approach them and specifically ask them for guidance. Some do not have time to provide detailed feedback because they are super busy in their own role. They are very encouraging in their praise.

My manager is very accessible, supportive, gives very helpful and considered feedback and provides clear instructions and information when allocating tasks. He is also a very good mentor and a great communicator. I feel very comfortable asking questions and asking for advice and it has helped me to feel very comfortable in the team.

This is my team manager and ED supervisor - they have both been great and really supportive. They have provided advice about working in this kind of field in general and have given me tips that I can use in future rotations or other work. My supervisor has been really good at sourcing policy work for me if I could not get exposure to it in my team, and they both communicate with me well. I have received feedback from both of them on various pieces of work and provide positive feedback/recognition of work. I did have something happen during my time there with someone else and my manager dealt with it immediately and was very supportive, and my supervisor also followed up with me to check in so I definitely felt like I could talk to them about any issues. The only downside is that both of them can be inaccessible at times (My supervisor is often very busy as the ED of the division so sometimes meetings would get cancelled or rescheduled, my manager also was hard to find time to have meetings with at times but I was able to manage most of these issues with both of them if I planned meetings far enough in advance and followed up if needed).

I am able to communicate with leaders though either weekly or monthly meetings. I have also been given a mentor which has helped.

My managers and supervisor are very accessible, being more than happy to answer any questions and be of any assistance. They approach performance feedback in a more in-depth way when I seek it, otherwise when I submit documents to them they will tell me what they have changed and why. I am praised a lot for my work, there have been times that I seek more constructive feedback because although I am doing well, I would still like to know where I can improve.

My director was very nice and helpful, and he organised fortnightly catchups with me which was great. Didn't have too much interaction with anyone above his level.

Management is supportive and engage with my development.
Graduate, Brisbane - 09 Jul 2024
My direct supervisor is helpful and approachable, and there are multiple other people in the team that I'm able to go to for help or guidance if needed. The program contains a structured performance framework, in which goals are set at the beginning of a rotation and reviewed at the mid-point and end. These meetings also provide opportunities for formal feedback.

Everyone appears to be really approachable and genuinely invested in my success

I am very happy with all of the aspects mentioned in the questions. The reason I am giving 9/10 is that social events within the team is rare and I believe it can be improved.

Managers are very supportive and genuine although they are overworked and therefore not always accessible.
