As a business, we are humbled to stand on the shoulders of giants. From small beginnings by ambitious entrepreneurs such as Arthur Guinness, Alexander Walker, Charles Tanqueray and Alexander Gordon, we work together today as the world's largest spirits company with passion and determination to safe keep our beloved global brands for the next generation of consumers. Chosen as the custodians of an incredible portfolio of established brands including Johnnie Walker®, Gordons®, Smirnoff® and our local iconic hero, Bundaberg Rum®, we have aspirations to continue to be the most trusted FMCG organisation in the world. In the world of Diageo, when we have been built by incredible characters with inspiring brand stories, Character is everything.

While we may be a global giant, we are also incredibly proud to support and drive continued investment in Australian Manufacturing with two world class manufacturing sites - Huntingwood, NSW and Bundaberg, QLD and the majority of the products we sell in Australia are created here in our factories, by our people. Our Commercial team spans both On-Premise and Off Premise, working hand in hand with Australia's hospitality sector to delight patrons in their venues and fostering deep relationships with key retailers including Dan Murphy's, Liqourland and an array of Independent Bottle Store Owners to give consumers the opportunity to connect and celebrate in their everyday life.

In 2020, Diageo launched our Society 2030 - Spirit of Progress initiative, aimed at providing our framework and goals for ways of operating into the future. These goals included Harm Minimization Messaging and Programs, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives and Environmental Impacts, including committing to Zero Net Carbon Emissions, Zero Water Waste and completely sustainable packaging by 2030. In this area we are championing change, leading the industry forward and setting the benchmark for other consumer goods organisations to reach.

Recruitment Process

Our recruitment process differs from role to role. As an intern applicant you can expect:

  1. Complete your application on our applicant tracking system. This includes uploading your resume, academic transcript and any other supporting documents you may have. This will require you to create an account and login so don't forget your password!
  2. Upon completion of of your application, you will be sent a link to participate in a Psychometric Test called Pymetrics. Test is probably a bit of strong word, in this you'll be expected to complete various games that are looking to see how you respond and your natural style. The assessment should take 15-20 minutes to complete.
  3. Once your resume and psychometric test results have been assessed/screened by our Talent Engagement Team, you will be sent a link to complete a HireVue Video Interview Assessment. While it's not designed to be tricky, it can be a little nerve wracking talking to a computer screen! The interview should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete and can be done at a time and place that suits you.
  4. Final stage of the process will be to complete an interview with a panel of our team, which will include the hiring manager, a HR representative and one of our Talent Engagement Team. This will be an opportunity for you to ask us any questions you might have and what to expect from the program.
  5. The best part of the process is the offer stage! In this section we will do some background checks (including a criminal history check) and a medical assessment.
  6. Onboarding and commencement of employment.

In Diageo, we are less focused on the "what" and more focused on the "how" you would do things. This is our most important criteria when it comes to selecting employees to join our business. We have four leadership behaviours at Diageo that we assess talent against.

  1. Win through execution
  2. Shape the future
  3. Inspire through purpose
  4. Invest in talent

Remuneration & Career Growth

We offer a competitive package to all of our employees, but often some of our best parts of our compensation are our added benefits. This includes a product allowance (very important for an adult beverages organisation!), extra days off annual leave each year, a competitive bonus structure and intangible benefits including summer hours (Friday afternoons off!), work-life flexibility and onsite parking for our manufacturing site.

Our previous graduates are our best examples of what career opportunities await you at Diageo Australia and the opportunity you can unlock for yourself in our business. We are a performance driven culture, and you truly are able to take your career to whatever heights you can imagine!

What Graduates Say About Them
  • What is great about my workplace is the people, and that every day is different!
  • They are very flexible, as long as you complete what is required!
  • I have been well looked after and supported in being trained up and coached in new tasks and responsibilities.
  • There are options and opportunities for promotions and career progression, especially for the supply chain side of the business!
  • There are outreach things and groups here.
  • Sometimes, because there is a lean headcount, there are a lot of tasks and projects, and sometimes you may not be well set up for success.
  • Yes, Huntingwood is not the easiest location (okay if you can drive, but hard to get to by public transport!).
  • Bonuses were confusing, only because it was a formula and seemed complicated in how it was calculated.
  • Maybe more clarity in the different rotations and structures earlier on!
  • Because of a lean headcount, it can be challenging to get sufficient support.

Another highlight is collaborating with our partners who operate in different markets. This provides a new perspective and invaluable insights into the broader global landscape, extending far beyond the borders of Australia.

There are some great events, activations, and brands, but my favourite thing about Diageo is the opportunity for an international career.
