Recruitment Process

Apply online
All applications must be submitted via our Careers Page including your CV and tailored cover letter addressing the essential criteria outlined in the ad.
The cover letter is important as it shows us you have carefully read the ad and have high attention to detail. You will also need to ensure you are eligible to apply.
Your CV should be no more than 3 pages, clearly showing your qualifications, contact details and recent work experience.
Applications submitted without a cover letter are not progressed to the next stage.

  1. Online psychometric assessments and Video Introduction
If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to some online assessments and a short video introduction.
The assessments are short mini-games, assessing your problem-solving skills and ability to understand and perceive emotions.
The video introduction will allow you the opportunity to introduce yourself and answer 3-5 questions via a video recording.
Try to do your best and ensure you are not distracted during the assessments and video. Remember, this is just one step in the process and we look at all of your applications when deciding who to be interviewed.

  2. In-person interview
The next stage is an in-person interview at RAA.
The interview panel will be one of our Hiring Managers and the Senior Talent Acquisition & Early Careers Consultant.
Ensure you are prepared by reading about RAA on our website and really reflect on why you want the role at RAA. We will ask you!
The interview will take about 30-45 minutes and the questions are mainly behavioural (e.g. tell us about a time you took initiative to solve a problem).
You can prepare for the interview by thinking of relevant examples to talk about from your degree (e.g. group projects), part-time work, volunteering etc which reflect your teamwork, initiative, customer service and problem-solving skills. Remember to answer the questions fully, using the STAR approach.

  3. Second interview
You may be invited to an informal second in-person interview with one of our Senior Managers.

  4. Offer
The fun part! If you are successful, we will call you to offer the role, then send you confirmation via email.
The offer is subject to a National Police Check which is a standard part of our recruitment processes.
Once we receive your Police Clearance, you will be sent a contract online to read and sign.

Remuneration & Career Growth

As an intern or graduate at RAA, you will gain plenty of on the job learning to build your technical skills, as well as exciting learning and development opportunities to develop your business acumen and professional skills.

You could be involved in the following activities:

  • Spending a day on the roads with one of our Patrols to see what we do for our members
  • Volunteering with some of our charity partners
  • Team building workshops looking at your personality type
  • Lunch and learn workshops with guest speakers, on topics such as Growth Mindset, well-being, Presentation Skills and more.
  • Meet and greets with our Senior Leaders at morning tea and lunch to build your network at RAA
  • Monthly one-on-one mentoring sessions with a Manager
  • Attending our highly-regarded  Resilience Program

At the successful completion of the Graduate Program, you’ll step into a role at RAA and a salary increase to reflect your new role and responsibilities.

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The company culture and how approachable/friendly everyone is. I always have someone to turn to and have support for in anything that I needed.
  • RAA is highly invested in developing its younger employees and gives us ample opportunity to engage with learning and development sessions from a variety of topics.
  • The workplace culture is really great, they really focus on work/life balance and ensure that we work in an approachable, friendly environment.
  • The culture is great, RAA and the graduate program are pretty flexible in terms of allowing days to work from home, and starting/finishing times can be negotiated with the manager.
  • Everyone is extremely welcoming and wants you to do your best, so they are always open to providing feedback and support.
  • A downside is the graduate salary, for the work we are doing and for our STEM degree backgrounds I do believe it should be higher.
  • The company structure can be a little frustrating at times as information is difficult to collect.
  • Lack of direction/unclear employment progression.
  • There could be a greater commitment to diversity company-wide, especially respecting cultural and orientation diversity.
  • This year was the first time having a different cohort of different grads who have come from different education backgrounds. Which has made a bit of drift between certain groups of grads.
