My responsibility is to help our traders gain an advantage in the markets in a few ways, such as recommending trades on breaking news, determining how information is disseminated, and providing valuation and analysis on situations in the markets. I try to understand what factors are driving price movements and ensure that our opinions are reflected in products that we trade.

Most of the time is intellectually stimulating with fun/interesting challenges on most days.

I am a member of the Buy Side Research team. In essence the role revolves around staying on top of global news and developments, and aiding our traders to trade on incoming news and information. Throughout the day, my responsibilities may involve tracking breaking news, researching upcoming catalysts or working on longer term projects.

Following trading and advising traders on things I pick up on, completing projects to assist with trading, doing various simulated trading environments to get exposed to varied trading conditions.

Trading a Single Stock options book in my team. Day is broadly split into actual trading (main job) as well as other strategy/development to help improve systems and our PnL.

Quant trader grad. I do mock trading (training) and on desk coding projects. I also do scheduled shadowing to try and learn more from the traders.

I started as graduate software engineer, and gradually start working as a junior dev which means that I have been assigned to more job responsibility and more involved in the whole system design. For my day-to-day responsibility, a key project I have worked on is creating a visualisation dashboard for traders to display news headlines, so that they can view information to make trading decisions. I identified a bug in this tool that when fixed, improved the performance and speed of the data.

I usually start the day making sure all trading systems are working before market open. Each day I have 15-45 minutes of meetings and spend the majority of the day working on new applications and features.

My responsibilities day to day are to add features for common libraries and applications based on the evolving requirements of other teams. Additionally, I monitor existing applications and fix bugs to ensure they are robust and reliable.

I work as a software engineer and my day-to-day responsibilities include building new features, maintaining existing software, fixing bugs and working with stakeholders.

My day-to-day responsibilities are to facilitate the development to trading relating applications as well as provide trading period support for any applications that I have knowledge about. It is fast paced but not stressful. As a junior, I felt being taken care of and have enough time to educate myself.
