From memory, the recruitment process at White & Case was relatively smooth but was very rushed - I felt stressed as a prospective clerk being given very short turnaround times for interviews and being pushed to get through the conflicts process. I have also heard similar feedback from subsequent clerks. That being said, the interviews themselves were very pleasant and I had an enjoyable experience meeting the partners.

Interviewing is never fun but the process involved a good mix of formal and informal interviewing and socialising. Opportunity is provided for you to showcase your true self and what you can offer to the firm and visa versa.

I had a series of interviews to get this job. All great - met lots of great people.

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
There were some basic questions at the beginning, which I assume had to be asked. But after that, the interviews were extremely conversational.

Do you have any specific tips and advice for candidates applying to your company? How would you recommend they best prepare?
White & Case is a very global firm. I had heard this but was shocked at how much it actually shows in the everyday legal work. Overseas graduate rotations are available and encouraged for every junior, and we do so much work with W&C offices in other countries. Wanting to be a part of a firm that goes beyond Australia is a big part of the firm's identity, and is also, in my opinion, its biggest strength. Showing that you understand an embrace this aspect of the firm is massive.

Research the firm (particularly its strengths) and decide whether that's what you're interested in. Then come across as genuine.

Bring your true self to your interview. At the end of the day, you want to work somewhere where you feel comfortable so it is a two-way street. Display a true interest in our firm and work and ask lots of questions.

Firm is unique in the Australian market because of their origins as a NY-based law ?rm, with international o?ces and international clients. Show that you align with that, as well as align with the ?rm's values generally.
