Culture at Xero Australia

9.4
9.4 rating for Culture, based on 20 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Really awesome work-life balance. Usually flexible work hours and on-site days, depending on the teams. Often hear about teams doing team activities on a regular basis either during lunch breaks or after hours which are absolutely great. Don't normally experience a strict hierarchy politics among people, everyone are friendly and willing to help out at all times. Graduate Engineers like me feel welcomed to ask for help when stucked. Social activities are facilitated on a weekly basis and people will very often feel encouraged to meet new people through those activities.

The company culture is extremely welcoming and inclusive. It is casual while still being professional.

The culture is incredibly relaxed and welcoming, both during hours and after. The structure feels a lot looser, and cooperation and teamwork are at the forefront.

It's very chill and supportive environment. Everyone is there to help each other out and everyone is working towards the same goale. May be a little bit of drama between teams.

The team's culture is amazing! We work collaboratively and independently within office hours and are rarely expected to work outside of regular office hours and if so we receive support and are encouraged to take the time back.

You work as hard or as relaxed as you want. There are weeks where the amount of work could be a few hours -- there are weeks where I'm working over my scheduled hours (voluntarily). Socialising aspect is amazing. Xero treats us very well. Colleagues are a social bunch. I find that the company is very human, and we understand each other well. No issue taking leave or if a colleague requires a doctors appointment, etc.

The culture is good. People are very compassionate and understanding of commitments outside of work which gives me flexibility and confidence to fit in other important life things. There is some sense of teamwork and belonging in the office, but I feel this has reduced since the restructure, the office is less lively, less people there which makes me less interested in going in. Especially when only working on projects with people overseas etc. This also makes the culture a little lonely when only connecting with people remotely.

I am yet to meet a Xero employee that is not kind. All employees like lifting each other up and as a result it is an amazing place to learn and fins what kind of engineer you are. I have found a stack that I am very passionate about and I am enabled to pursue it.

We're encouraged to reach out to other team members for help and advice. Several engineers have been eager to mentor me. Office is quiet and comfortable. Recently there has been more office events -- while I don't go to the office often, these do make it more rewarding. Some "Xero fun events" out of hours that I don't attend, but they seem OK. Clear separation between the people on the ground vs. the executives (the executives are out of touch).
