Graduate Certificate

Applicants for the graduate certificate must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification in any relevant discipline of science or engineering from an approved tertiary institution.

Graduate Diploma

Applicants for the graduate diploma must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification in any relevant discipline of science or engineering from an approved tertiary institution.

Masters

Applicants for the masters must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification in any relevant discipline of science or engineering from an approved tertiary institution.

Graduate Certificate

Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Education must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution. Different specialisations may have additional entry requirements.

Masters

Applicants for the Master of Education will qualify for either the 2-year or 1.5-year program. Applicants who hold an approved bachelor degree in any discipline are eligible for the basic entry level, and will complete up to 72 units of study. Applicants who hold a bachelor degree in education, teaching or a closely related discipline are eligible for the 1.5-year program, and will complete up to 54 units of study. Different specialisations may have additional entry requirements.

Graduate Certificate

Applicants must normally hold an approved health-related bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Applicants for the Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care must have at least one years’ work experience in palliative care or a related field.

Graduate Diploma

Applicants must normally hold an approved health-related bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Applicants for the graduate diploma must also have at least two years’ experience in palliative care, aged care or in a related field.

Masters

Applicants must normally hold an approved health-related bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.

Applicants for the masters must also have at least two years’ experience in palliative care, aged care or in a related field.

Graduate Certificate

Applicants for the graduate certificate must normally have completed an approved bachelor degree in biological, agricultural or medical science with a credit average (5.0) or higher.

Graduate Diploma

Applicants for the graduate diploma must normally have completed an approved bachelor degree in biological, agricultural or medical science with a credit average (5.0) or higher.

Masters

Applicants for the masters must normally have completed an approved bachelor degree in biological, agricultural or medical science with a credit average (5.0) or higher.

Graduate Certificate in Education (Special Education)

Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification in education, disability studies, psychology, speech and language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or a closely related discipline from an approved tertiary institution.

Master of Education (Special Education)

Applicants to the Master of Education (Special Education) (2 Years) must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification in disability studies, psychology, speech and language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or a closely related discipline from an approved tertiary institution.

Applicants to the Master of Education (Special Education) (1.5 Years) must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification in education, teaching or a closely related discipline from an approved tertiary institution.

Applicants must normally hold a midwifery degree or an equivalent qualification, be registered midwives, and hold a current practising certificate.

Explore our pathways Additional entry requirements Applicants must complete a non-academic assessment task known as a Teaching Capabilities Statement as part of their application to demonstrate their motivation to teach, their strong interpersonal and communication skills, willingness to learn, resilience, self-efficacy, and strong organisational and planning skills. This involves a short statement in response to three set questions used to demonstrate suitability for study and work in the teaching profession. Visit the Teaching Capabilities Statement page for further information Inherent requirements The Australian Government has recently introduced the Literacy and Numeracy Test for all initial teacher education (ITE) students to ensure they have the high level of personal literacy and numeracy skills required of teachers. The test is a single, national instrument designed to assess elements of an individual’s literacy and numeracy skills and will be used to demonstrate that ITE graduates are in the top 30 per cent of the population for literacy and numeracy. All students commencing an ITE program after 1 January 2017 will be required to meet the benchmark prior to graduation. Both  programs provide graduates with the necessary qualification to be eligible for membership to the AASW, and practice as social workers.
