If you enrol in a QTAC offer in the following dual TAFE-Qld Brisbane/QUT award you will automatically receive a QUT conditional offer in June (semester 1 QTAC offer) or October (semester 2 QTAC offer) after your enrolment at TAFE-Qld Brisbane is confirmed.

Upon completion of the TAFE-Qld courses you will be able to enrol at QUT. You will also automatically receive 1 year (96 credit points) credit transfer and be able to complete the degree in 3 years as a full-time student if you complete the advanced diploma

You must demonstrate possession of key competencies outlined by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) as those attributes and motivations common to effective teachers.

To demonstrate this you must complete an online questionnaire to demonstrate your motivation for and understanding of the course and profession. Details are available from the QTAC initial teacher education webpage.

If you've achieved a satisfactory result for one or more components of the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) at another institution the satisfactory result can be carried across with your admission application. You are not eligible to apply for a place in this course if one or more components of LANTITE remains at unsatisfactory after two test attempts for that component.

Overseas qualifications

We will consider equivalent overseas qualifications for admissions purposes. If you have tertiary qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction you must provide evidence of English language proficiency.

Additional entry requirements

You must have attended and satisfactorily completed at least 6 years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English. At least two years of this education must have been between grades 7 and 12. This education must have been completed in one of the following countries:

English language proficiency

QUT requires students to demonstrate that they can speak write read and comprehend academic English to a specified standard.

QUT's English proficiency requirements for this course are:

  • IELTS (Academic): 7.0 or better overall with no sub-score below 7.0
  • PTE: 65 or better overall with no sub-score below 65
  • TOEFL (IBT): 98 or better overall with a writing sub-score of 27 or better listening and reading sub-scores of 24 or better and speaking sub-score of 23 or better
  • Occupational English Test (Nursing Profession) with a minimum score of 350 in each component.

The test must have been completed within 2 years prior to the proposed course start month.

Diploma of Nursing holders

If you have current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) (General) without restriction etc and you completed within 10 years prior to admission to the Bachelor of Nursing one of the following qualifications:

You can receive one year of advanced standing. This allows you to complete the course in two years instead of three. You will need to lodge an Advanced Standing application and provide a copy of your award certificate and current registration after you receive your offer.

If you do not have current registration current registration with restrictions etc or your diploma was completed more than 10 years ago no advanced standing will be granted.

Degree holders

If you already hold a degree in any area other than nursing completed within the last ten years you can apply for the Master of Nursing - Entry to Practice via QTAC and complete your nursing studies in two years.
