About University of Melbourne

Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Austalia. It is a public-spirited institution that makes distinctive contributions to society in research, learning and teaching, and engagement.

The University of Melbourne has consistently performed exceptionally well in international univeristy ranking systems. In 2017, it was ranked equal 33rd in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the highest ranking Australian university.

The Melbourne Model

Degrees at the University of Melbourne work differently to those at most other Australian universities. Similar to those offered by many top institutions in Europe and the United States, students begin with a more general undergraduate degree, and then choose to specialise at graduate level. This allows students to explore their own study path, with the power to choose their own direction and explore new options along the way.

Parkville Campus

The University's main campus in Parkville is just a short tram ride from the bustling Melbourne CBD. Located in leafy Victorian streets, it provides a picturesque backdrop for leading Australian study and research.

Applying for postgraduate study

Graduate programs normally require the satisfactory completion of an undergraduate degree either from the University of Melbourne, a university in another country or another Australian institution. Applicants must also meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible to be offered a place.

A hospital can be an overwhelming place, but I want to be that nurse that bathes you without making you feel humiliated, the nurse that explains your injuries or illness without frightening you, the nurse that speaks to your family and friends to reassure and comfort them. I want to be a nurse that you can depend on to look after you physically and emotionally.
