Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
There is a clear, linear path from graduate to consultant, to senior, to manager and above. Two paths also exist in either a management/ senior technical role to suit a person's different strengths. Typically a graduate becomes a consultant after a certain period of time and proven to have what it takes to go above and beyond a graduate's roles.

satisfied as a grad as I am already considered not a grad anymore however, I have heard it is hard to progress in the future for associate etc as loyalty is considered highly. Hoping to continue to advance into more client facing roles at some point

This is something that is not very clear. I'm not sure what happens after the graduate program, both in responsibilities and pay. I assume it is more of what I currently do just with less oversight and more autonomy.

Not too sure about promotion opportunities, however I believe it revolves around the yearly performance review. I believe moving up in ranks will depend on your number of experiences, certifications, performance and journey which translates to how well you align with Northrop's values and goals.

off grad engineer or senior designer

Northrop is very transparent with how to work towards becoming an associate within the company. The graduate program is usually 2 years and there is a skill matrix used to assess your progression.
Graduate, Sydney - 11 Sep 2024
It's more of the accomplishment (Positive changes brought into the company and could be technical or not) and having the right aptitude and attitude to lead others.
Graduate, Sydney - 06 Sep 2024
I didn't receive a formal review at the end of my first year. I received a pay raise for inflation adjustment. It would have been good I had a review to know how can progress within the company. This is the lack of management system that I was referring to earlier on.
Graduate, Melbourne - 05 Sep 2024
Promotion opportunities are there but are pretty linear with the path to take. I think there is alot of room to grow as a young professional but less so at a mid level. I think the options at this stage dry up a bit little bit. I think this is why we are seeing a couple Mid level professionals leaving

Moving from intern to grad was seamless - however the graduate intake is definitely catered to fresh faces. Moving from graduate to engineer is a basic, standard process where time in the company + ambition will set that course. They are flexible if you need longer or shorter - and those discussions can be had.

After Graduate Engineer title, you can move onto an Engineer title. Then, you can move onto a Senior Engineer, then Associate and Principle

Northrop focuses first on building overall design skills then helps you find a design specialty in which you have a niche. Employees then tend to get promoted quite fast.
Graduate, Newcastle - 02 Aug 2024
Clear paths towards management. Getting involved in events, networking and getting known for the good work you do.
Graduate, Sydney - 01 Aug 2024
I would say once you have enough experience and skills then you definitely can have the promotion. The promotion possibilities in our company is large.
Graduate, Canberra - 25 Jul 2022
You learn a lot in less time. Progression is happening very quickly
Graduate, Newcastle - 22 Jul 2022
I don't know much about it at this stage.
Graduate, Erina - 19 Jul 2022
Northrop's leadership team are drawn from within the organization. Incredible opportunities for progression
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jul 2022
I haven't been really exposed to this, but looking at my colleagues, it's very possible.
Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jul 2022
Can't answer this at this stage as I have not been here long enough to develop an informed opinion.
Graduate, Newcastle - 18 Jul 2022
There is a clear hierarchy/career ladder in the company - interns, grads, engineer, senior engineer, associate, principal engineer. It takes years of experience and additional technical requirements eg. getting chartered through engineers Australia to move up the ladder. They are keen in developing the team to fill roles, but it does take a long time to move about since there are only limited positions.
