8.5 rating for Diversity, based on 49 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
In my section, women make up approximately 50% or more of the workforce. In the wider company this is likely closer to 30%. Lots of different demographics across the company but no explicit commitment to LGBTIQA+ community that i'm aware of.

Lots of women in my team and civil which is great. I can't speak much on ethnic / LGBTIQA communities as I am not apart of these but I hope they feel comfortable at Northrop and can speak up if they feel like they are treated differently.

The policy is good

Northrop seems to place a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion, actively working to create an environment where people from all backgrounds feel welcome and supported. The company has made visible efforts to recruit women, ethnic minorities, and members of the LGBTIQA+ community. My team, for example is 50% women and both my manager, structural leader and direct mentor are all women.

Promoting women in leadership with training days, lots of women throughout the company in leadership roles reflects diversity in company decision making and representation. Good maternity leave policy.

As far as I can tell, Australian permanent residency or citizenship is not required to get a job here. A lot of women and ethnic minorities are working in the company at all levels.

Graduate, Sydney - 19 Jul 2022
There is a large push for diversity and inclusion in the company. There are many more women engineers now and women in the company are very passionate about promoting this career path to the community. Ethnic minorities are also having a big push currently, with initiatives such as swap religious holidays to better suit an individual's belief. There is also maternity and paternity leave for all and carers/sick leave is readily available if notified to management. The Northrop offices are majorly white caucasian men but this is slowly changing.

The company systemically promotes flexibility and inclusion, allowing remote work (depending on the context) to retain quality employees, WFH arrangements and reduced workload for parents to name a few benefits. This means I work with a great bunch of people from diverse backgrounds!

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
I haven't heard much from this but I think I would hear some in the future.

They scout people at graduate information days/nights. This is open to all in the university. I dont know what their other recruitment is like.
