As part of QUT's application for admission process you will be automatically assessed for the 1.5 year program. If you wish to be considered for the 2 year program only please indicate this on your application form.

Master of Business - 1.5 year program

• A completed recognised bachelor degree in business or related field with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.00 (on QUT's 7 point scale).
• A completed recognised bachelor degree in international business or business administration with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 (on QUT's 7 point scale).

Master of Business - 2 year program

• A completed recognised bachelor degree in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.00 (on QUT's 7 point scale).

You must have a recognised Bachelor degree (or higher qualification).

Applications for the 2024 February and July intakes will open 1 September 2023.

A completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline with a minimum grade point average score of 4.00 (on QUT's 7 point scale) or equivalent.

You must have one of:

• A recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline; or
• A recognised diploma (or higher qualification) in any discipline and at least two years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience; or
• At least five years full-time (or equivalent) professional work experience.

You must have a completed recognised bachelor degree (or higher qualification) in any discipline.

Satisfactory completion of Year 12 in an Australian school system or equivalent.

You must either have a:

• recognised bachelor degree in any field with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.50 (on QUT's 7-point scale) and a minimum three years full-time post degree work experience with minimum of 2 years relevant professional work experience and 1 year minimum supervisory/management experience; or
• minimum of 7 years work experience (6 years minimum equivalent professional work experience plus 1 year minimum supervisory/management experience).

You must also provide two referee reports.

You may also be required to:

• sit the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) the worldwide standard in aptitude assessment for admission to postgraduate management programs and achieve a minimum score of 550. GMAT details (PDF file 271.78 KB).
• attend an interview with the Course Coordinator or nominee.

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration with a minimum overall grade point average of 4.50 (on QUT's 7 point scale) you can articulate into the Master of Business Administration.

You must have a:

• recognised bachelor degree in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.50 (on QUT's 7-point scale); and
• minimum 3 years full-time post degree work experience with minimum of 2 years relevant professional work experience and 1 year minimum supervisory/management experience.

You must also submit responses to following mandatory reflective questions:

1. Motivation to complete the QUT MBA
2. Intended contribution to the cohort
3. Work/life/study balance strategy
4. Current leadership philosophy

Relevant work experience indicates applicants will be able to contribute to class discussion. A minimum of three years full-time equivalent professional or managerial work experience is required after the completion of an undergraduate degree. To enable us to assess your work experience a current curriculum vitae providing details of your roles responsibilities and achievements is required.

You may be required to attend an interview with the MBA Director to demonstrate relevant work experience.

You may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration with a minimum of 7 years work experience (6 years minimum equivalent professional work experience plus 1 year minimum supervisory/management experience). Upon completion of the Graduate Certificate in Business Administration with a GPA 4.50 (or higher) students can articulate into the Master of Business Administration.

You must have one of:

• A recognised bachelor degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) score of 4.00 (on QUT's 7 point scale); or
• A recognised bachelor honours graduate certificate graduate diploma master or doctorate degree in any discipline area with a minimum grade point average (GPA) score of 4.00 (on QUT's 7 point scale); or
• A recognised bachelor degree in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) score of 4.00 (on QUT's 7 point scale) followed by at least three years full-time (or equivalent) work in a relevant field.

Relevant work experience could include:

• The facilitation and management of ongoing helping relationships that employs intentional use of therapeutic conversation and a therapeutic relationship; and/or
• Volunteer or community work that is supervised/mentored within an ethical framework; and/or
• Work that provides opportunities and support for professional development and reflective helping practice including the provision of feedback and training.

You will need to provide with your application your CV plus statements of service for most recent relevant employment. If you have been employed for less than one year full-time in most relevant employment you will need to provide a statement of service from your previous relevant employer.

You must:

• Provide a personal statement (PDF file 186 KB)
• If shortlisted attend in-person group interview to assess your suitability for the program and interpersonal skills in a counselling context.

We will consider equivalent overseas qualifications for admissions purposes. If you have tertiary qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction you must provide evidence of English language proficiency.

We require students to demonstrate they can speak write read and comprehend academic English to a specified standard.

Our English proficiency requirements for this course are:

• IELTS (Academic): 7.0 or better overall with no subscore below 7.0
• PTE: 65 or better overall with no subscore below 65
• TOEFL (IBT): 98 or better overall with a writing subscore of 27 or better listening and reading subscore of 24 or better and speaking subscore of 23 or better
• Cambridge English Score: 185 or better overall with no subscore below 185

The test must have been completed within 2 years prior to the proposed course start month.

• 1 July: applications open
• 30 September: final date to apply and provide all required supporting documentation. Applications or supporting documentation received after this date will not be considered.

Suitable applicants are shortlisted or placed on a wait list for an interview based on the responses in their personal statement.

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted in mid-October to attend the in-person group interview at the Kelvin Grove campus in late October/early November. Wait listed applicants may be interviewed in late November/early December should places remain available.

Interviewed applicants will receive notification on the outcome of their application two weeks after their interview.

You must provide your academic record for all studies attempted up until semester 1 this year by 30 September. If your application is successful you will receive a conditional offer that will stipulate when your final results and course completion must be provided to confirm your place.

If you have summer/semester 3 (or equivalent) studies you will need to apply for entry next July for the year after you complete your studies.

• A masters degree in education or in a field relevant to the professional doctorate in education with a minimum GPA of 5.00 on QUT's 7 point scale; and
• Two years' practice in a position of professional responsibility in education or a closely related field.

• A completed recognised four-year honours Class IIA degree in education; or
• A masters degree in education or in a field relevant to the professional doctorate in education with a minimum GPA of 5.00 on QUT's 7 point scale; and
• Two years' practice in a position of professional responsibility in education or a closely related field.

Before you start this course you must have obtained the required result for the Queensland year 12 subjects (or equivalent senior subjects) listed below within your Year 12 studies.

• English or Literature or English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4 C); and

• Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4 C); and

• At least one of Agricultural Science Biology Chemistry Earth and Environmental Science Marine Science or Physics (Units 3 & 4 B).

Before you start this course we assume you have sound knowledge of the subject/s listed below. If you don't have the subject knowledge you can still apply for the course but we encourage you to undertake bridging studies to gain the knowledge:

• Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4 C); and

• At least one of Agricultural Science Chemistry Earth and Environmental Science Marine Science or Physics (Units 3 & 4 C) in addition to prerequisite.

You must be a 2022 Year 12 student or a recent Year 12 student returning from up to two gap years.
