Pros & Cons

  • There are more possibilities for pathways than you can imagine… every semester you get to explore a different part of the business.
  • Every leader I've been assigned to has displayed that they want me to succeed as an individual.
  • The graduate program spans two years, during which you'll receive the training needed to perform your future role effectively.
  • The cultures instilled into the employees are Care, Courage, and Curiosity… we are cared for as individuals and our well-being is looked after.
  • Competitive pay and bonuses for this stage in my career… 4.5-9 months of parental leave and free private health insurance.
  • Some of the onboarding experience can be arduous, particularly for those unfamiliar with the processes involved.
  • Like all large companies, Rio Tinto is not exempt from internal politics.
  • Due to the size, communication can sometimes be an issue, and it’s easy to get lost in the crowd.
  • Perth office culture can be dull compared to the on-site culture.
  • On-site hours are long, with the usual 12-hour shifts.
